it's ok, until it starts moving...

I thought Tarkin was better than Leia, but yeah, I agree, they don't move quite right, whether walking or just the movement of the faces when they talk. They've got all the points of articulation in there, but they don't move completely fluidly/naturally. A great effort, but a couple more films' development needed.

I don't understand why they felt the need to completely rebuild them in cg, and not digitally composite their faces from footage from ANH. Unless of course if they tried that and found it looked naff!

That's a brilliant reaction, and not a million miles away from how I felt when I watched it the first (and second, and third, and fourth) time. Whatever you think about the new Disney Star Wars juggernaut, without it we wouldn't have been treated to moments like this scene, and that alone makes the whole venture worthwhile.

FFS - if I watched a film with someone who reacted like that I'd pause the fucking thing and give her an ultimatum - shut up or fuck off.

(Although I'm not all that different when I'm watching Wolves on telly.  Maybe more tears.  And I wonder why I watch football on my own....)

I quite like reaction videos normally

That's the first one I've seen.  A quick google tells me I've completely missed a thing, and I must admit, I don't really get it.  You're watching somebody watch something to see if they react in the same way you did?  Really?

I'm too old for this shit. /Murtaugh

Some are professional reactioners...

Did a prequel and original trilogy marathon a few years back and we almost packed it in during Clones. It’s dire. Phantom Menace and RotS at least have their moments. Not watched them since that marathon though, suspect the day-based CGI has aged very badly (night / dark scenes can mask things better).

We’re currently running a Star Wars channel at work, so will dip in as Last Jedi looms closer. 17 days!

With The Last Jedi approaching, I thought I'd best re-watch the OT. Then i realised I may as well watch Rogue One before kicking off with ANH.

A year on and, well, this isn't actually that good, is it? It really does feel like fan-fiction.

Hmmm, we’ve been here before in the Zelda thread.  I’m going to check back in a few days for your positive viewpoint :D

I've said this before, but The Phantom Menace is much more a Star Wars movie than the following two monstrosities.

Yeah i genuinely think they get worse as the prequels go on. Phantom has actual sets, the podrace, the lightsaber battle at the end. Clones is a complete trudge throughout but ends on a fairly well put together action piece, and I've always had a soft spot for Yoda jumping about. I really can't see any redeeming features in Sith. It's maybe not quite as boring as Clones, but the acting is so so much worse, especially from Portman/Anakin, and the final battle is a dull, depressing slog. I hate it. Not because of fear or anger leading me there, because it's fucking rubbish.

That's gonna be HC's epitaph, isn't it?

I still put the blame at George being unable to write or direct actors, as much as Hayden was crap.

He's better in other things that make me think it's not totally his fault.

I love the hamy Emperor in ROTS.

I certainly come from a different viewpoint regarding ROTS, and absolutely consider it the best of the three prequels. It feels like a much tighter and far more compelling sequel to AOTC, which they at least did appear to learn a little from. I really enjoy the idea of the Jedi / Sith conflict almost being two sides of the same coin dependent on perspective  and Anakin's fall is played out pretty well.

AOTC is such an odd mess, with a middle act of absolute nothingness.

I think it's the best of the prequels too, but it's not a high bar.  There are some good moments in TPM but overall I prefer RotS.  AotC is a absolute fucking ballache to get through.  A dreadful film.

But get through it I must when I start the Machete Order in a few days.

It's all personal preference, but I went for Machete order last year and I didn't enjoy it much, it all seems so weird and disjointed.

For rewatching, I'd only ever go for release order (especially if the person in question is watching it all for the first time) , or chronological order (like I'm doing atm, I've seen them all already so no twists can be spoiled).... or even just prequel skip so - 4,5,6,7,RO.
