I still kick myself that I didn’t buy one of these when they were readily available. If there’s one system I’ll stick with physical hardware and software for, it’s the Super Famicom/Super NES. No other machine will ever top that console for me.

Where does one buy a Super Nintendo from these days, as much as anything I want one to display but with the option to play so ideally a 60hz modded or SFC but really a decent condition PAL unit is good to start with as I have other ways to play one in reality!

Had a look on ebay and seems like the Wild West and none locally I can look at unfortunately.

Sorry... I've been a bit "slow" of late, too many jobs on 😛
Have indeed got a cube, you wanted just the console didn't you, no wires? As for SNES, I'll see what I've got, there are at least 5 here, I just need to find the best top and lower shells to make a non yellowed one for you 😉

Cheers mate, let me know - just a purple cube to sit with the orange one so doesn’t even need to be working!

Similar with SNES, probably prefer a working one but nice looking is defi top of the list!

As part of the great Christmas find the bloody box of lights. I’ve been going through the back of our storage locker. I’ve found a couple of boxes of SF games.

They really did have the best box art!

Im now thinking of trying to find a way to display them in my study.

That set needs Sim City.

They're beautiful! And it's also the same with Mega Drive from that era - the Japanese versions always have the best box art.

agreed. I have another couples of boxes  of mega drive stuff somewhere.

the box for gynoug is close to box art perfection.

I think back in the day Super Play did a comparison of Japanese vs US box art and it was embarrassing. I suppose you had to stick out on a shelf to American teens and "beautifully posed pastel illustration" isn't going to work there

On the subject of SFC box porn I just checked out videogameimports for the first time in a while and saw this

Their stuff is always overpriced but £3k for Rendering Ranger seems a little much imo, however immaculate the inserts are in the other photos. I will note I did buy from them once and their service was top tier (bought R-Type III and they sent it double boxed with a relevant copy of Retro Gamer!) but this seems insane.

Hopefully they're still this generous when I come to cash in my DS collection in a couple of decades.

Apart from RR all the other games sold. Pretty sure Magical Pop’n and Power Rangers were both well over a grand too.

One reason I think they’re more expensive is that they do trades. In theory you could have 300 £10 games and do a straight swap. I know this isn’t likely to happen but at this price, people are likely trade a decent chunk against it.

Great day on the SFC yesterday.

Went back to the Super Mario World file I started over Xmas and got the last 20 or so of the 96 exits.

Then some Puyo Puyo - I'm still awful at this so only got to level 5 but had a blast.

Finally as the night was drawing in I completed a run through Star Fox. I'd forgotten how good this is. I think the common take on it now is that the framerate makes it unplayable, but what it lacks in performance it more than makes up for in atmosphere. What is achieved stylistically with the visuals given the technical constraints is astounding, and the soundtrack... I'm not sure there's ever been a better fusion of sci-fi cinematic splendour and hard-edged arcade action.

Love this console.
