I kinda feel that way about both of them! Did you not think sticker star was pretty easy though and similar to that?

With the weird exception of M&L boss battles, I love the simplicity of both series. I'm rarely taxed, but feel like I'm still playing full, proper RPGs with appropriate levelling. Only, I've finished every Paper Mario and not one M&L, and I think I can attribute that to the overly regular introduction of new mechanics for the latter. For instance, in the very first M&L I remember stopping on that island where you learn to do the fireballs (or something similar) because I thought that if they were introducing something new after this many hours (30 I think for me by that point?) that I was still days away from the ending, and it put me right off.

Perhaps it's a simple mentality thing. Because PM mechanics are introduced via the buddies - but because they're mechanics with fun personalities and cute character models - I don't care as much. Wandering around with Koops is much more fun than learning that if I cycle abilities enough I can now do a fireball.

Super Mario World looks stunning on the 3DS screen in original resolution mode - with only small borders at the top and bottom of the screen. The default resolution is scaled horribly though, and all it is is a little wider (not even stretched to the top edge of the screen). Really strange that. Definitely change it.

And yeah, I was playing it on an emulator on my 3DS a few weeks ago, but it's a right faff and I can't be bothered with the cat and mouse game with future firmware updates.

Considering it's pixel perfect, I'm getting mightily aroused at the mere thought of next week's release.

Now if only they could fix their NES games in the same way…(I actually rebooted Metroid to see if I hadn't just missed the 'original resolution' button, but no it's still that 'start download play' one.)

Does anyone know which shops will be selling the star fox first print editions?

I'm guessing, like most things, it'll be Game Exclusive (according to Game), but also available at ShopTo, Zavvi and Amazon.

Didn't know Japan are getting third party snes titles too... Ghouls 'n Ghosts, Contra Spirits.. All they'd need now is Axelay and UN Squadron and I'd have my arm well and truly twisted! Only if they see a Euro release and are good emulations mind..

If it is GAME exclusive it will also be available in the Nintendo store. Or you can just order it from an Amazon store in Europe, all of the LE are identical in Europe which is why they all come with that awful USK logo on the packaging.

I think I brought this up already when 3DS RetroArch SNES emulation happened, but it's weird that they're calling it 'perfect pixel mode' when SNES games (256x224, 8:7 aspect ratio) were designed to be displayed in 4:3 with non-square pixels on a CRT. How much this actually matters depends on the game though, Super Metroid and Super Mario World should look pretty good (more uniform), if not exactly how you remember. Chrono Trigger's intro is the usual example you see where it's an issue, or the Street Fighter II character selection screen.

Yeah, I remember this coming up before. And, as then, it reminds me of the inverse problem - games that were ported from the Mega Drive (or elsewhere) to the SNES without taking into account its weird scaling, leading to images that were stretched horizontally once output. So in those cases you actually want the emulation to incorrectly fail to take the stretching into account, as it then corrects the game back into the aspect ratio it was intended to be displayed at.

Not something the Nintendo games being released will benefit from, of course.
