Who the fuck bumped this shit stain of a thread?

I did due to Alan Dean Foster talking about the changes he had put forward to "fix" the last instalment and because I had some excellent points that can be summed up accurately as per this previous post.

Once a year we do this thread and once a year you do a post in which you say "I loved it but the majority of fans or the true fans or Star Wars fans hated it."

This is still not the case. It's a fair split between those that liked what Johnson did and those that hated it. I'm a huge Star Wars fan and I deeply loved that it changed characters I loved and tried to move forward into a future in which Star Wars wasn't six people but an idea. Critics loved it, a lot of people on here who have lived and breathed this franchise for a lifetime like myself also loved it, the fact that the people complaining are complaining that it isn't enough like a 30 year old film does not mean they are the true fans of this franchise.

Right I'm out to grab some rosary beads and repeat "arguing about The Last Jedi on rllmuk does me no good."

Brutal. Fair.

I’m amazed that all the arguing about the shitness of the sequel trilogy is still taking place in this thread, and not the Rise of Skywalker thread.

Surely nobody would argue with hindsight that TLJ was the worst of the three movies?? All sins of Rian Johnson should have been forgotten once Ep IX got shat out onto our screens.

I haven't been able to bring myself to watch ep IX because I heard that it tried to retcon loads of what happened in TLJ in a way that pleased absolutely no-one. I'll get around to it eventually (and I'm really looking forward to watching The Mandalorian) but to bring this full circle I won't be watching any of these new Star Wars movies or tv shows until Alan Dean Foster and other writers get paid what they're owed in terms of royalties. (Short version, when Disney bought Lucasfilm authors of several novelisations stopped getting royalty cheques despite the novels still selling. Disney's argument is "we bought the rights to your work but not the liabilities, so we can publish and profit from your work without having to pay you." Which is bullshit.)

It’s not in that thread because everyone who is sane can ultimately agree that TROS is shit. ;)

It’s like a crime scene - blood and shit all over the shop.  But it’s after the fact.

And TLJ is the moment that crime was committed. I bet George Lucas is massively grateful to Rian Johnson for taking the spotlight off his cinematic prequel murder spree.

The prequels are objectively even worse than the sequel trilogy but they have been rehabilitated in recent years by zoomers who grew up not knowing any better and are now YouTubers like that Star Wars theory guy.

I did watch a bit of his reaction to the tweet and stopped as it was so pathetic. He was acting like Lucas film had raped him or racially abused him or something.

Fucking hate Star Wars fans the most

We need to ban the word "objectively" from pretty much any forum area where we discuss opinions on any form of art.

It is utter bullshittery to utter what are, by definition, subjective opinions and dress them up as objective facts.

That reaction is objectively the goal of its use.

Absoloutley none of that story ever happened, its just some fanboy ramblings. The only thing they forgot to add was when everyone stood up at the end & clapped.

Yep. The whole story is bollocks. Written for likes on the internet.

That person can’t be a Star Wars fan. Controlling your emotions and being in balance is literally a part of the Jedi way. And that’s just another example of TLJ fans not respecting the lore.

Watched the last hour of Last Jedi when it was on the telly a while back, it really is such a weird film. Like I kind of agree with all the people who say it’s the best one after Empire but I also can’t argue with anyone who says it’s a terrible mess. Very high highs, very low lows.
