Camelot Unchained Alpha Gameplay Showcase, "looks like crap" (?!?)

A little intro before rotten tomatoes start flying (as they did on Youtube and reddits): this below is alpha test footage, with pre-alpha low poly/texture models, animations (including even walking) are placeholders etc. - this is NOT the game.

What the video below is showing are some alpha biomes with dev comments (first half) and 600+ players/bots fighting in a very small area, with high framerate, quite big rendering distance, hundreds of trees/bushes fully rendered etc. - at that point basically any other engine would crash and burn long time ago.

PS For what it's worth, there is quite lively discussion on MMORPG reddit (and couple other places) about that video upthere, including some programmers on both sides of the fence.

Cannot wait for this DAoC realm v realm was amazing and that engine looks like it's set to cope with enormous numbers of participants, if any mmo can suck me back it will be this

The unofficial promise and the actual aim is 1k+ (instead of current 600+ players). Take couple minutes to let that sink in =) I mean, will we even need these numbers?

I'm more worried about polish and makeup, Beta 1 starts in couple months ("Q1 2016", and knowing CSE it will likely be the end of March) and that's when NDA is supposed to drop, which means lots of streams and YouTube previews.
