This is my pirate park, Cannon Cove. It’s a constant work in progress as it’s where I test ideas and builds.

The main plaza is surrounded by these Caribbean style houses and pirate themed benches and shops.

I try to adopt the Disney style of making the queues interesting for guests - here there are animatronics of pirates having a shootout with the English navy - there’s smoke and gunfire and some of them “die”.

I tried building my death roller in an Aztec temple style surrounding. The queue goes through temple tunnels and has spikes and log traps that swing just above guest heads.

My main attraction is “Kraken’s Revenge”, a huge log flume built into a central lake. The biggest climb takes guests up between two ships battling it out.

Opposite the ships is a navy fort which fires cannons at the ships. Big splash  effects are timed to go off with the cannon fire, which is pretty cool. I build this entire fort from scratch and it has lots of navy animatronics patrolling it, and a big guest walkway right through the middle.

Here’s the fort from the view of one of the ships

Here a shark animatronic attacks a rowboat with two English soldiers in - they fire at it and it goes beneath the surface again.

After the big drop comes the kraken itself, which is timed to come out of the water as the flume comes down, spraying water everywhere just in time for the camera to take photos of the guests.

I still play this from time to time on the SteamDeck. Don't have it on the xbox any longer as they removed it from GamePass.

But in a really shitty move, the devs have released a subscription to access the DLC packs. £3.99 a month to play all of the content. You still have to own the base game though, the subscription is for the DLC only.

Can you not buy it outright anymore? If not, what a fucking dreadful decision. Subscription culture is an absolute cancer and should be nowhere near any single player game.

Yes you still can buy them outright. They are mostly £8 each RRP but often drop to 50% off or even less. I think the newest DLC is 3 years old at this point. The game doesn't really get any more updates either. It's a shame they won't bring over the controller support from the console version to the PC version as it would be perfect for SD.
