Steam Secret Santa 2015

Last year I thought it was a good idea to give someone something off their wishlist, something that I thought they'd like based on their library (that they didn't have) and something I loved, that they (hopefully!) didn't have.

I hope it worked out, I have no idea. Obviously!

Well, you could just check if they posted in the 2014 thread after they received their gift. Hopefully it wasn't something like "Wish I'd updated my wishlist earlier, I got something I've had on console for ages, and I didn't even enjoy it :( "

I like to surprise people with one thing that's not on their list if possible, but some people have literally everything listed. Big wishlists are great for picking something out that you know they'd like but finding something to surprise them with is near-impossible. :P

JPR - what kind of "arrangement" do we need to come to so that I get Rikku as my Santa?

;)

Pray to the Excel gods, I randomly shuffle a second list of names around and just check nobody is gifting to themselves.

That's really not a very good one of his though (although not actually watched that particular vid, I'm assuming it's just trimmed out some of the really shit bits).

Drunken Master 2 is one of the best 'new' ones of his (or legend of Drunken Master, because weird naming conventions in the west) but if you've not seen Dragons Forever, Armour of God, Wheels on Meals and Project A (part 1 though, 2 has got a few one off AMAZING stunts but is sorely lacking Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao for unfortunate reasons) are the better ones from the 80s I'd say. Miracles has got a few good fights but is more about the production values and Gorgeous has one good end fight and a very cool (but horribly brief) bit wiht some baseball bats

Sorry, went off on one there. I love Jackie! :D

I've never got around to Drunken Master thanks to my only copy being an atrocious, cut, dub; I need to get around to sourcing a decent, uncut subbed version, and I've no interest in Gorgeous bar the scenes you've mentioned, which I've already seen; the rest though I've all got under my belt, along with the first few Police Story films, and the, er, not so good City Hunter.

So, has everybody else pruned/added to their wishlists now in anticipation?

I went through mine last night, got rid of stuff I probably wouldn't play, got rid of sequels to games where I have - and dislike/didn't get on with - the first entry (the Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky and Agarest Zero the main two) and moved a lot of Early Access games to my followed list. After all, it's Christmas and it'd be nicer to play games that have released than those which are still in development, right? Plus the fact that I don't play Early Access titles anyway, to avoid being bored of the final release.

It means I've halved my wishlist. Feels productive!

I've added a couple of games, and removed a couple that I'd since bought on other services, and reordered them for preference, but the numbers are more or less the same as they always were, hovering around the 30 mark. Hopefully it should make me easy to buy for, though I won't mind if whoever gets me goes off piste! Though, owing to a significant GOG library (plus PSN, plus Xbox Live, plus Nintendo...) there would be a reasonable chance of some duplication occurring.

I use my wishlist as a "Games I need to remember exist" list

My list kind of serves a similar purpose. :) Also I've had really cheap indie stuff on there in the past; not because I'm stingy but because I'm in the middle of so much other gaming stuff that when I do have time for new games I'm just going to forget what's out there on Steam. :P
