Steam Secret Santa 2015

Yup, Steam is terrible at letting you organise things in a usable manner - stupid things like anything in your 'Followed' queue won't tell you the price, or the fact you can't bulk move things from queue to queue, or the ranking never seems to save...

It's an awful store front.

Err, anyway, I'm in!

I'm going to have to sort my wishlist out as I think I've got some things on there I own now, wouldn't want Santa to get me anything twice! Can't even remember if you can see the person's library you're buying for... although there's stuff on consoles too of course...

Lacking a mobile authenticator is going to be a bit of a pain. Would gifting work better or is that a similar restriction?

No, I've seen no mention of changes to gifting, so you should still be fine to buy games as gifts and then send them to me as usual.

As Secret Santas, do we pick a game from the recipient's wishlist to gift? I probably should add some to mine if that's the case.

You don't need to, you can pick something not on there you think they'd enjoy. Main thing is something you think they'd enjoy, not just a bunch of joke games.

You don't need to have a wishlist if you want a complete surprise.

The main risk of lacking a wishlist is if you make use of other online stores/consoles' digital releases, as somebody might pick a game that looks perfect for you, not realising you already have it on GOG/Humble Bundle/PSN/Xbox Live etc. The advantage is the excitement of not having an idea of what you'll get!

:) This, my recipient last year had all very cheap games on their wish list, so I bought them pretty much everything on there which came to about a third of the budget I allocated so I got some additional games blindly based on what other games were in his library but had no idea if I was buying him games that he already owned on consoles or received as review code.

Hope you get me this year then!

(Current wishlist: 150 games)
