FTL Season 13 - Game on!

Andy was good for a draw against me really, no excuses (bar a terrible ref & my strikers being useless at finishing 1v1s :P).

I was livid at the ref sending off Insue after 20mins for a decent tackle, especially as he let off a few shockers later on. With no RB, Andy did a lot of damage on the counter - the match winner being a 90th minute rebound tapin. C'est la vie, well played mate.

Mid season window can't come quick enough, have my three main strikers all out injured, and I'm stuck using Reading's reserve midfielders upfront...

Spurs (MardiganX) 1 - 4 Aston Villa (Mackenie)

Goals - Aubameyang

No injuries

Festive cobwebs struck hard in this game as Spurs were well off the pace and weren't a match for Villa's clever movement in the final 3rd. An all too common and ridiculous penalty aside the goals Spurs were conceded were preventable had the defending been a bit better. There were a couple of unlucky bounces and touches but Villa were good for the win.

Well played Mack and good to have you back in the leagues :) 2 weeks away and jumping straight in cost me dearly so hoping that is the rustiness shaken off. Highly doubt it though, haha. All the best in your remaining games for this half.

Where's the handicaps?

Timmo 4 - 1 Al

No injuries

If this wasn't a win I give up! I hit the post 4 times! Good game Al.

I'm pretty sure Al is +3 and you're +/-0.....so I believe it's a draw?!

Yes!!

FTL 13 - Season of the Handicap

After seasons and seasons of the table looking all too familiar, despite the difference in starting teams and the gap in funds across managers we have decided to add something new this season.

We could of course have increased the team rating gap so Jamin ends up with the likes of Dublin against Andy's Galacticos, however instead we have decided to hit people where it hurts most....GOALS!

Each player will be given a handicap rating that will determine how many goals are added to their score each game

For example Andy is identified as having the max handicap rating and as such gets +3 goals in every game added to the ones he actually scores.

Jamin is identifed as the lowest handicap rating and so will get 0. The score before a ball is even kicked is 3-0 to Andy. Jamin would then need to score 4 more goals than Andy scores in the game to take the 3 points

Bennette is identified as mid-low handicap and is given +1 goal on each of his games. The score when he starts the game v Andy is 3-1 to Andy. The score when he starts the game against Jamin is 1-0 to Bennette

When reporting the scores of games, use the ACTUAL score. The sheets we enter the scores in on will add goals to each tally accordingly and update the table. For those using headsets, it would be gentlemanly to remind your opponent of your assigned handicap just so everyone knows what they need to do to take the points

There will still be a normal table alongside the Handicap table so we can still monitor the league as if it was normal! But the Handicap table is the table we will be crowning our champion with!

Perks are back again - expect some new ones

We'll re-perk in mid-season (from a reduced list however) Mid-season perk points will be awarded as follows -

1 to 6 points - Steely will identify a targeted finishing position for you at the start of the season. The higher up in the table you end the mid season point, in relation to this target, the more perk points you get .

1-3 points awarded to those finishing their games the quickest

1-3 points awarded for contribution and involvement in the thread - fixture arranging, reporting and the like. (Judged by Winch)

We will be using English Football League teams only and picking caps will be based on team's overall rating rather than stars.

Andy (+3) Man Utd

Alsleep (+3) Chelsea

Manic (+2) Man City

Wincho (+2) Arsenal

Mardigan (+2) Spurs

Cary (+1) Everton

Bennette (+1) Stome

BigBaz (0) Crystal Palace

Mackenie (0) Aston Villa

Timmo (0) Bournemouth

Steely (0) Middlesbrough

Jamin (0) Reading

Ugh. There's simply not enough time to get a +4 swing with these players. I hit the post 4 times and could barely have played better.

Timmo 2 - 1 Shalo

I should have scored about 5 but held on in the end. Good game Baz. You scare me to death when you are near my penalty area.

I think that's the point!

You'd beat Al 99 times out of 100 (as steely would Andy, jamin would me, etc, etc) so the handicap is designed to even that up and make the table tighter and more balanced. Of course Bennette has royally fucked that up, but other than that it is shaping up to be a tighter contest.

Steely 4-1 Wincho

No injuries

No shots from me in the first half save for the one I scored with just before half time when already 4-0 down.

Changed formation in the second half and it was a closer affair with neither of us adding to the scoreline

Timmo 2-0 Wincho

No injuries

No shots from me in the first half

Changed formation and no shots from me in the second half too

No fun for me in either half aswell - Timmo sodomized me for the entire game

Bournemouth (Timmo) 2 - 1 Spurs (MardiganX)

Goals - Alderwerield

No injuries

Bournemouth opened the scoring in the 23rd minute heading home ball the Spurs defence really should have cleared. It was pretty much one way traffic from here with Spurs defending really well to keep things close at half time. Spurs levelled from a corner against the run of play and even more surprising should have taken the lead moments later when Eriksen smacked the underside of the bar with a thundering 20 yard shot. Bournemouth's trickery inside the box proved too much in the end though as after 4 step overs, 2 drag backs and a dummy they made it 2-1.

Well played Timmo. They little step overs and dribbles you do in the box are ridiculous as they usually either lead to a penalty or a defender skating away past where he should be. Close game in the end but I had to make so many tackles and blocks, haha. All the best for the rest of the season!

Al 2 - 5 Mackenie

No injuries

Williams x 2

Agbonlahor x 2

5 up with 15 mins to play, I thought this handicap ain't that bad. Boy was I wrong and 2 late goals got Al a well deserved draw. two or three of mine were fortunate including a keeper OG so the right result in the end. Well played mate.

I almost stole a "win" late on too after producing pretty much nothing of note until the last 10 minutes. Courtois had an off night, hopefully he regains his form for the second half of the season!

Cheers for the game mate

Everton (Cary) 1 - 1 Spurs (MardiganX)

Goals - Konoplyanka

No injuries

Both goalkeepers made some great saves to keep the score level with Spurs having the best of the chances. Konoplyanka finished well after a neat run in the 1st half and Lukaku equalised with a great finish around the 63 minute mark. Very tight game!

Well played Cary and all the best with your remaining games.
