Yes. Sorry, didn't realise that pic only added the curveball modifier. I tend to aim for Great (I've heard whispers that the Excellent modifier doesn't work properly) curveballs - definitely throw curves every single time.

Not sue where you've heard that from but it isn't true, excellents work as they should.

I think the trade off in better catch stats with excellent vs. great are lost with my ability to hit great over excellent ;)

Now that the legendary switch had happened, how did everyone get on?

I finished up with 5 out of 7 tries, including 1 weather boosted and my first 100iv legendary. It's not the most usable of pokemon, but I'm pleased.

Sounds like with 5 from 7, your throwing is fine.

I got 14 from 17, 2 of which were 96%. As you say, hard to get excited though.

Yep, that's what I mean.  I don't bother going for Excellent, instead going for Great, curve ball obviously.  When I tried for Excellent, I missed most of the time, meaning I go to basic curve ball, no bonus stats, leading to a catch rate much lower than aiming for Great.  The chances of catching with 3 or 4 great curve balls out of say 9 or 10 balls is much, much better than 0 Excellents :D

I normally take the same approach but with Latias, I went for really small, excellent instead of gettable great, and my catch rate was much higher. It's also more satisfying to hit the excellents, even if they are 1 in 3 instead of every time with a  great.

If you've done the name trick for  Espeon or Umbreon but want another of either of them you can walk an Eevee as your buddy for 10k, then evolve it at night for Umbreon or in the day for Espeon.

Nice one, that worked.

Did a Latios raid yesterday absolutely smashed it with 4 people but it ran away. Waaaank.

250k to go to lvl 40, 3 more gyms almost hitting gold,  300 researches to go for the gold badge. Not sure what I'll focus on after that.

Probably about £100 a month. It replaced drinking most nights for me so whilst not cheap (plus petrol) I spend less on that and do a lot more walking and have a lot more friends.

Polished off the quest medal tonight...

Fucking hell! That's awesome. Hoping to play a lot more this weekend now I'm getting to the higher levels, haven't spent any money yet but I will probably shell out for some more raid passes. Haven't paid a cent for what is essentially fun exercise and socialising so I'm not that fussed about giving Niantic a bit of money - hell, I paid 45 quid for God of War well under a month ago and whilst it's a great game I haven't touched it for a week whereas this I am on pretty much constantly. It's kinda the opposite of other games too, the more you play the more you want to play because the mechanics lend well to minmaxing, so I always want to catch that next Makuhita in case it's better than my 93% one, always want to get to the next gym etc.

I feel the same, I'm constantly wanting to play. For example I'm off this weekend but instead of sleeping in until midday like I used to do on the weekend I'll be getting up at 7am to head out (with the dog) for Pokemoning. Usually stay out until around 1 or 2pm (not as long if Liverpool are playing the early KO ) go back home to re-charge the phone/charger then head out again around 4ish for a few more hours. It's borderline an addiction. Sometimes I don't get home after work until several hours later because I go for a "quick" detour.

What Pokemon does everyone have the most candy for currently? For me it's Magikarp Candy:

Was a good amount over 2000 before I evolved and Maxed out that 100% one.

Currently have 1100 Swablu candy and about the same for Machop.

Thank you for paying for at least 20 of us who don't spend any/much :)

7:30am until 2pm out Pokemoning today. Only managed to do 3 Latios raids because not many other early risers about. Only done around 8 or 9 km walking because my dog is old and small so quickly gets tired out - meaning having to carry her.

Best catch of the day was a 98% Aron

I got quite lucky - went into town late and got three Latios raids in an hour. Soon as we did the last one all the raids dried up for ages and ages. 120k exp, I should definitely legendary raid more. I managed to get two of them, not that they're particularly great. Seeing as how I don't have a Dragonite they're pretty decent vs themselves in raids, can't wait to get a useful Legendary! I'm pretty desperate for an ex pass too, I know there's one on tomorrow.

Is it worth me using rare candy on one of my good Latios...es? I have one that's dragon/dragon moveset which is perfect for doing level 5 raids at the mo, and it has 14 attack and pretty decent other ivs. For the first time I have a decent amount of spare rare candy (50) and not a lot to use them on - this is my only legendary and I'm happy enough to walk candies for Blissey/Dragonite, is it worth waiting for a legendary that's going to be slightly more enduring like Raikou or MewTwo?

Dragonite and Rayquaza are both better dragon attackers. It’s not a horrendous idea and legendary candy is hard to come by but personally I think it’s better in a top tier type attacker, even if that’s getting a second, third or sixth one to build an elite team.

That's true enough. I guess I was just thinking in terms of cost/benefit - I must have hoovered up about 25 rare candy in one day doing the higher level raids so if I can increase the survivability/damage of my good Latios then in theory I can make that candy back in the next few weeks.

I think you should be able to put Legendary Pokemon in gyms as defenders. I have so many Latias that aren't much use battle-wise.

They should limit to one legendary Pokemon defender per gym and only gyms that you're gold in. Would make it more interesting and another reason to want to get a gym gold.
