Pokemon Go

I hadn't realised how bad the botting problem was until a recent post on Reddit. Around here I don't really see it in a big way. Apparently people can make 100s if not 1000s of level 30 bot accounts with 10s of blissey/dragonite every day from a single PC. They are being sold on eBay etc. for a few quid.

The recent changes to the IVs being random per account and sniping being more time consuming looks to have made things slightly harder but not eliminated the practice entirely.

They are utter twats. I think fighting types stand a slightly better chance against them. I do have one, but it's at a comparatively low level and anything which isn't at least 2600CP seems to get booted out of gyms pretty quickly around here. Not sure if they're spoofers or real people though. Seems to be the same set of around 15 accounts though.

I got another Mareep out of my latest 10K. Still a way to go before having enough candy to unleash the mega-sheep.

My first 2k+ pokemon! I got my first Snorlax out of a 10km egg on the weekend, and it came with 1600cp. Just need to find time to take a lunch break and shuv it in the gym at work.

I'm trying not to level at the moment. Got hundreds of pigeys and other tat sat waiting, but I realized that I haven't been able to level up an attacking pokemon as fast as my level, which means while gym opponents are scaled down to my level, that's still not low enough for my attackers, so I'm finding it more difficult than when I was a lower level. Just dinged 22 but will wait for another 2x event to pop an egg and power through all these evolutions.

There are 2x events? I'm at level 23 and stocking up (got 2 eggs was planning to pop one when I've got my army of pidgies/rattats/weedles to evolve)

Yeah, the event for April was 2x XP on everything for a week, among other stuff. I only saved up during the week of the event and still had enough at 4x to do a level. This time I'm in no rush to be higher, so will hopefully have loads in time for the next one.

Meanwhile, I took my local gym again (must be an event on, it keeps changing colours all the time) and put my Snorlax in there. Thought I'd level it up a bit too, fighting Snorlax is a right chore. I can't seem to dodge his massive damage beam, even if I'm behind him before it fires. I need to get better at picking my pokemon for the battles too, rather than accepting defaults. Everything was awful against him, except a 641 cp Magby, who somehow tore chunks out of him.

Yup! If you swipe left or right you can dodge incoming moves. The whole screen does a yellow flash just before the damage occurs, and I think you have a 0.7 second window from then in which to dodge. You get the flash at different points in different moves though, and some can be a bit hard to spot.

I do that all the time.

Walking and only progressing one incubator is inefficient - I CAN PROGRESS 9 at once!!!!!! It's efficient and therefore better.

(I get 10-20 coins a week from gyms :()

Another 10K hatch and another Pinecone guy. At least I got to evolve him into super pinecone guy and knocke another one off the pokedex.

I'm also back to only picking up 2K eggs. It's fine if there's at least a slim chance of Cyndaquil coming out of them but a bit slow because I'll only use my infinite incubator on 2Kers. Given I have 8 2K eggs at the moment, clearing them is a bit of a slow process. But I suppose it's better than 8 5Kers all containing Psyduck, Wooper and Staryu.

I prefer 2k eggs to 5k ones. Can get the starters and Magikarps from them plus you can get them hatched so quickly. I currently have 8 5k eggs (and a 10k one) taking up all my egg space <_<

Anyways finally got a Dragon Scale today so I can evolve Seadra on my next mass evolve. Does anything else need a Dragon Scale for evolving?

Did the "Sweet Nights In" promo get mentioned here? Collect the codes from three promotional packs of Mars/Snickers/etc (the 4-pack ones which sell for £1-£1.50 in Sainsbury's) and get £3 in Google Play credit. I'm stocking up so I can get enough coins to buy me some incubators...

So I've had one of my Gyarados stationed in my local gym for around 3 weeks straight, this gym used to change between red and yellow every few days but the main Yellow guy in the town (my nemesis)  looked to have stopped playing and us reds conquered the gym and had it at around a level 10 for 3 weeks. I noticed yesterday it was down to a level 7 gym but this sometimes happens and I just assume it's one of the few team blue guys that we exchange another local gym frequently.

Check my app after work tonight to find Gyarados has been returned. Get back into town to discover my nemesis has returned and singlehandedly taken over our gym. No having that so went straight around there to kick him out before his yellow team cronies could get in too.

The turf war is back on.

I have a local pokestop about 4 minutes walk from my house, useful as not only can I spin on my way to work but on my days off I can get it on the way to the local shop/post office. This morning it's been changed to a gym, inconvenient but hey they've added a new pokestop to replace it. In a gated shooting club. Looks like I need a poke-Kevlar vest to get my daily spin now.

This has happened all over the world, part of a follow-through from ingress updates. In theory it sounds great but in practice it is pointless. There is no limit on how many gyms someone can be in. So spoofers can just populate these new gyms, effectively generating zero extra opportunities for genuine players to be in gyms. On the downside, the pokestop is no longer.

It would be simple to turn this in to a positive change by simply limiting the number of gyms that an account can be in at once. Possibly 15 or 20.
