this on the xb1 with a thrustmaster wheel, FFB jacked up to 100% and the Bowler in off road races is incredible.

I'm totally sold on this already and can't wait for the full game, it looks and feels lovely.

I am meant to hate the twat bloke trustafarian who is running the event aren't I ?

Played the demo a couple of times now and just love the feel of the game, its a perfect sim/arcade hybrid and just huge fun to bomb around in.

Love it so much i've dropped for the full ultimate edition download, seem to get a small discount being a forza 5 VIP, £70 a lot but need this on the hardrive

Roll on release day

I had no interest int his at all but I've been playing it and it's exceptionally good fun. Looks incredible and plays like a mashup up Forza and Test Drive Unlimited 2.

The off road stuff is some of the best racing I've done in years and although it doesn't feel realistic, it's still fun as hell.

Arthur "Xbox fanboy" Gies is harsher than his Gaf reputation would lead you to expect. 7/10His critique seems perfectly valid regarding the game becoming repetitive over time, drivatars being chaotic and the environment not offering the complexity of track racing. Otherwise it's fairly positive.

GamesRadar: 4/5 - Despite minor faults, it's easy to love Forza Horizon 2. With many of the optional features the more serious Motorsport games are known for, along with Horizon's high-octane thrills and massive open landscapes to explore, Forza Horizon 2 is a culmination of the best parts of both games, all in one package.

Joystiq: 4/5 - Forza Horizon 2's world isn't the most lively, beset as it is by roaming bands of automotive enthusiasts, but it leaves room for the living - for you. There's space enough to imprint your moods, whether you rocket into hairpins with a Ferrari or simply cruise around in a gaudy, gold Bentley. Forza Horizon 2 is a big, bouncy summer drive.

Eurogamer: 9/10 - It's going to be a busy season for racing games, with sim hopeful Project Cars, ambitious online "CarPG" The Crew and the social score-attack of DriveClub all jostling for attention. Horizon 2 sets an intimidatingly high bar for those games to meet on every front, but in one aspect it seems unbeatable. I can't imagine any of them are going to feel this happy.

Videogamer: 9/10 - It lacks variety, both on and offline, and sometimes it strikes a difficult balance between arcade racing and simulation. But there are very few other racing games that can boast such impressive fundamentals, and certainly not very many with a world like this wrapped around them.

Polygon: 7/10 - The excellent foundation below Forza Horizon 2's open world and the experimentation that it occasionally encourages at least provide a reason to race there. But that same open world serves as a less well-executed space to race and drive than the tracks that have defined previous games, and the open-world activities can't quite make up the difference.

IGN: 9/10 - The first Forza Horizon set a new standard for open-world racing games, and Forza Horizon 2 has comprehensively updated that standard. The location is right, the car list extensive, the handling nuanced but accessible, and the visuals are excellent. Above everything it's always fun, whether you're in a ludicrous Land Rover race or sniffing out a hidden Barn Find.

Destructoid: 9.5/10 - Every element in Forza Horizon 2 adds up to an exceptional experience. The story isn't over the top so as to get in the way of racing, driving feels as good as it ever did in Forza Motorsport, there's a ton of things to do, and the game looks absolutely beautiful -- especially the long-awaited dynamic weather system. Forza Horizon 2 is a must-have on the Xbox One.

Digital Spy: 4/5 - Barring a slightly more restrictive career mode, Forza Horizon 2 more than builds on the solid foundations laid down by its predecessor. Forza Horizon 2 easily records a podium finish ahead of what is going to be a busy winter for the racing genre.

this is very good news...

Horizon 2 has a few course-corrections to make on behalf of its sister series, too, after the misjudged Forza Motorsport 5. There isn't a single micro-transaction in the game - even the boosters from the first Horizon are gone - and in a series first, cars bought in download packs carry no credit cost in the in-game economy.

Always said if I paid real money for a piece of DLC I dont expect to find it "locked" in game.

Having this available on 360 has actually put me off buying it at all. I got a fair way through the original and occasionally go back to it, but was quite excited by a more expansive sequel. It may have been the first game that made me get another console. But then it was revealed that it was coming out on the 360 as well, so even though it wouldn't be as pretty it would still be the same game, and I might as well buy it for that.

But if I do get an Xbone in the future, I'd probably want to play this game on that.

But that would mean starting from scratch, which I don't have any inclination to do.

So I'm not getting it for either system. And that makes me sad.

http://m.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/news/a579179/forza-horizon-2-on-360-a-different-game-inspired-by-the-same-ideas.html

""It's based in the same world, it's based on the same themes," creative director Ralph Fulton told Digital Spy at E3 2014.

"Rather than thinking of them as the same game on different platforms, they are different games inspired by the same ideas.""

Hoping to see a 360 review and some footage today but won't be surprised if it's being kept under embargo until release so as not to take the emphasis from the Bone version.

I played a lot of Forza Horizon 2 on Xbox One over the last 10 days (Dutch review will be up tomorrow). A lovely game all in all, the world map is 3 to 4 times the size of FH1's and filled to the brim with goodness, not to mention the presence of 200 different cars. Had a lot of fun trying various vehicle classes, doing the road trips and generally driving around :D

Did some multiplayer as well with fellow media and developers. Some roads make for great race tracks, sometimes even emulating tense moments from Forza Motorsport, despite the physics being dumbed down (getting a car sideways usually involves having to use the E-brake).

However, the off-roading put me off quite a bit. Ploughing through a field doing 200 MPH in a supercar with no slowdown isn't to my liking, though I can live with that. But the whole concept ruins the fun during road trip events (mostly in multiplayer, when there are rewards for reaching the next event in the open world map first). Instead of taking the beautiful, sweeping tarmac roads, people more than often just cut across the grass (which is even encouraged) to reach the goal first.

It gets more annoying, as when you join them off-road, you encounter lots of foliage and trees, some of which you can pass right trough while others stop you in your tracks. Not to mention the occasional concrete wall which seem to be placed randomly, therefore making it unclear when you should or shouldn't cross-country your way to the next event.

It seems to be intentional, and while not a game-breaking gameplay element, it did stop my appetite for multiplayer road trips - which should be the main course in a game like this.

What's the off-road stuff like, elmo? (Or anyone)

Absolutely brilliant BUT it doesn't feel much like an off road racer. The cars done slip and slide as much as they should. The feeling of tearing it about in a field though makes up for it.

He also didn't like the original Horizon and gave it a 6/10..

@McSpeed, FH2 is a game that has me thinking about buying a bone BUT my main concern was the off-roading. FH1 was too restrictive with barriers everywhere but this just seems too far the other way.

If you're in a Supercar (even 4WD) it should be tough/slow/next to impossible to make progress across fields etc. if you're in a 4x4 offroad vehicle you should be able to gun it. Becomes a bit tactical about vehicles/routes in races then.

Missed opportunity and does sound a bit of a game breaker to me.

Still jealous of those who are going to play it though :)
