I was a bit dumbfounded when I watched the vid but I love the idea. Construction and robotics are huge.

$70 for a pack full of fun shit seems fine to me. You are not paying $70 for some cardboard. First person to say so gets a kick up the arse.

Obviously it won’t work out like this, but $70 = £50 at the moment. Which actually seems cheap when you consider Nintendo 1st Party pricing.

I bet it will be that for the base pack but then you'll need DLC for extra packs mitigating people just making all their own stuff, although they could offer those packs cheaper than the physical versions thus promoting it that way anyway.

From 4Chan, possibly rubbish:

"It's called "Nintendo Pixelbits".
Similar to lego, but not quite.
Build shapes/characters/small sets, similar to the 8-bit Mario and Link amiibo.
The IR Camera in the right Joycon reads them and incorporates them into games.
Comes in sets to build various characters. At launch will be Mario, Luigi, Link, Squid, Kirby, Samus, as well as a Mushroom Kingdom set containing a 1-up Mushroom, Flagpole, etc.
"Harder" Pixelbits such as Bowser and Ganondorf will contain more "bits" are be aimed more at adults to put together.
They are not amiibo. They offer more flexibility and offer no save/read data.

Release is set for June"

And a loser

How does that car thing move, and that stick man? Must be the rumble I suppose. And the camera makes the piano work? It's bonkers.

From the Guardian hands on:

The piano, especially, is quite amazing, and takes about two hours to build. The infrared camera on the Joy-Con controller can see reflective strips of tape on the back of the keys, which come into view when a key is pressed, telling the game software to play the right note. Cardboard dials and switches modify the tone and add effects to the sound.
