Nintendo Switch

The Switch has a small number of issues with the sync being the biggest and only one that seems common.

My launch period PS4 has had a cd eject issue, pad fall apart, pad triggers fail, thermal paste issue and turbo jet sound all in less time than the Switch has been out and all common to launch machines - it’s far worse than the Switch but seems to get a easy ride for some reason.

Xbone other than having a truly awful UI has been flawless hardware wise - same as 360 for me!

The only surprise is a Nintendo machine with a common issue, generally they are the best made with least issues so I guess it’s surprising the Switch has some flaws but they do get blown out of proportion IMO.

Does anyone know where the cheapest pro controller is?  Shopto seem to be the cheapest I can find at £58.

Although I would probably just get it from amazon Prime for £59 as I am lazy.

They were £49.99 on Amazon last week!

I know :(. It’s only the last two days of serious playtime on the switch where I have noticed the joycon and mount to be a bit uncomfortable.

Ive ordered one now and thankfully my wife will be nonethe wiser in terms of the missed deal.

How does the pro controller Dpad do with old school Beat em ups?  I’ve been surprised at how much I’ve liked the joycon DPad for those quarter turns!

Just a reminder that you can update the firmware of the joycons which may solve some problems? You have to manually do it, somewhere in system settings.

Much of the time my joycons are attached to the switch, I use the Pro when I play on the telly.

I bought a second set of joycons for multiplayer, so when playing single player I just leave a set attached to the Switch. If my play pair get drained, I swap.

I’ve bought some screen protectors but not fitted them yet, as the threat doesn’t seem very real, and I’m too busy playing.

I'm really surprised at how much I'm enjoying Skyrim. The game is opening up pretty quickly and the scope seems insane. The Switch port is superb, though the game still has bugs galore, but I suppose tat's Bethesda's thing. Have had floating items, disappearing NPCs, holes in geometry and one hard crash so far – top QA.

Anyone got a SF30 pro controller? If so anyone prefer it over the main Nintendo pro controller?

I do. It’s not as good as the pro but it’s still quite nice. Rumble is rather noisy. The sticks feel great.

not sure what you mean but i think they've spruced things up since the original release. I've heard comments it looked really poor in handheld mode but it looks ok to me. I didn't play the original so i can't really comment. I'm enjoying it though. its not easy even on easy but well worth the £6.95. It also has great old school hip hop music. takes me back to the 80's :)

There were massive problems at launch with performance, modes missing and no online whatsoever. There were a lot of complaints and the developer said they'd patch it in then went quiet. It got so bad that they offered Switch owners a whole other game for free http://www.mcvuk.com/articles/consoles/switch-owners-to-get-free-shaq-fu-after-nba-playgrounds-hiccup

Anyway, I'm glad it seems they sorted it out.

Been playing a lot of Splatoon 2 and Rocket League today. Perfect to pick up and have a few games while the football is on in the background. I don't quite understand a lot about Splatoon - like the different clothes and abilities etc. But I'm usually doing the best in my team come the end of matches so am OK with that.

Damn :( what’s the turnaround time for that?

The only other thing I can do is take it back to Argos and ask them to swap out the joycons for another set.

I'm in the process of sending mine back to Nintendo. The right joy-con has terrible lag when using wirelessly. So far the experience hasn't been great...

I filled in the form on their site about a week ago and never received any form of acknowledgment or response so I called them yesterday. When I got through the customer service representative apologised in advance for the bad line (it was terrible!) and the fact he'd have to ask me to repeat myself (which he did on many occasions). I explained I'd filled in the online form and was yet to get any response to which the guy on the phone replied "yeah, that happens"... At the end of the call the chap explained there's a problem with gmail accounts so he was going to post my returns label in case I don't get it via email (which I haven't).

Sounds like a one man operation!

You can just ignore all the clothes and abilities.

My previous assumption that Stardew would be gaming crack has been proven entirely true. Parental controls app says 6 hours so far today

It's great though, even if no one would go to the flower dance with me.

Even after I got married nobody - not even my wife - would :(

Sod Stardew (he says, with 80 hours on the clock) Steamworld 2 is where it's at. Bought it on launch but it only hit me over this weekend. Outstanding stuff with an INSANELY compulsive gameplay loop. Got £50 of cerdit on my eShop account and Heist will most definitely be on it - Image & Form have made the the only thing (in SW2) dragging me away from my 170 hours of Skyrim.

That said, I'd like to get something a bit out of my favoured genres that'll last me a long time - a big turn based RPG/JRP/Strat-RPG...any recommendations? And while I'm here - is Escapists 2 worth a punt?

Yep, I got back into SD2 the other day and played it for 5 hours straight. Wonderful game.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 isn't turn based but it's a JRPG that'll last you ages.

so i believe there is a firmware update or something which helped to address the rumble noise. is it still load even after that?

If I want to take my recently purchased Switch to an upcoming trip to NY, how do I go about charging it whilst over there? Will I need to buy a US adapter?

It'll charge from any standard USB charger, although a standard 1A phone charger means you'll probably need it to be switched off to charge.
