BotW has now "opened up".

I wasn't convinced at first, but now I'm in love.

I want to post in the Zelda thread but I'm afraid of spoilers, so...

  Reveal hidden contents

My quest is now not for glory or righteousness, but to find new and interesting ingredients to cook.

It's not there for me yet but I am also afraid of spoilers and also like it a lot.

Why are run and jump not next to each other on the controller though? That's my only niggle so far.

I was thrown by the fact a Zelda game even has a jump button now.

I love how full of "can I...? Oh shit I can!" style moments it has.

It feels like a collection of the best elements from all open world games from the last few years, until you realise those games took a lot of their inspiration from Zelda games, so it's come full circle.

Heh, because there's no need for a 'running jump'!  You just think there should be :)

Maybe, I do think you should be able to map the controls to your preference though. I was disappointed when I saw you can change the jump button... By swapping it with the run button. D'oh!

It's like spotting a little blackhead on an otherwise perfect face.

I would recommend people stay out of the Zelda thread if they're just starting out, it's kind of at the point where people just casually talk about stuff that at launch would have been SPOILERS!

Stay as blind as possible.  But perhaps share tales of your adventures there (without reading it) if you are so inclined!!  I love reading people's adventures.

It'd be good to have a Switch accessories thread, from the sounds of things. I'd be interested to know if there's a power bank that's good for the Switch.

Same here.  Reading up on power banks for Switch has been confusing.  I am inclined towards a smaller portable one, probably leaning towards Anker Powercore 13000 C.  Then there are those who says that Switch need Power Delivery, which only the newest largest capacity ones have and those weigh more than the Switch itself and cost three times as much.

Just start a new 'just started' Zelda thread.

USB-PD is going to make a big difference if you plan to play while charging, as non-PD devices don't have the wattage to charge the device faster than it's being drained; non-PD chargers may only slow the rate that the battery is dropping. It'll also be faster when charging in standby.

I don't know why you aren't playing them already. Sometimes I want to just shake people by the shoulders and scream "buy/build a pc!" into their faces

I explained this, I have played Spelunky. I played it back when it was Spelunker. I bought it on Xbox 360 and on Steam, because I thought that I might get into it, but it never quite gripped me. I am firmly of the opinion that it's simply a matter of not playing it enough. This is a problem sometimes on big screens that portable devices can completely mitigate against. To remove all doubt; instead of "Better on Switch", I simply mean "More likely to be played on Switch", because I can do it while the Mrs. watches Corrie.

I also bought Nex Machina. I love that game. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat on Switch, as would most who already played it and own a Switch. This would be in addition to the sales to the new market. I'm certain it would be a hit for Housemarque.

Yes!

I have overall been really pleased with the software on Switch. I have Zelda, Odyssey and Kart and the polish on them is clear. This button placement and the inclusion of waggle are the only software things I have reservation with. I'm sure I'll get over it.

See my thread in ATF. I just ordered the one @Mrs Horribleman recommended.

If there's one thing I've learnt from reading this thread, it's that the members of this forum spend a huge amount of time on trains.

BRB, gonna book a ticket across Europe to get some decent Zelda time in.
