I didn't mention FFXII  I wouldn't call that a JRPG in a traditional sense anyway but I'm not going to argue about it because it's clear we're not talking about gameplay only here.

I get what you mean about the gameplay in terms of combat not being random battles, but it still has a lot of stuff in common with them too. I'm not trying to put @dood off I absolutely think he should buy it!

Party of characters.  Characters have very set 'styles' / abilities.  Random encounters while exploring an overworld.  Combat is (effectively) turn based.  Nonsense anime story.   Levelling up / strategy is more important than skill or execution.

And more importantly: an rpg made in Japan.

FURI announced for the Switch! Yes son, amazing game and an even better soundtrack.

With this and Doom on board, I just need Hyper Light Drifter before I can chuck the Xbox One in the sea.

That looks tip top!

I’m really enjoying Neon Chrome, anyone else payed it? It’s nothing spectacular but I’ve not played this sort of game for years and it is decent.

Heh, indeed!  I want to like them!!  I haven't had fun with one since FFVI tbh.

So is Xenoblade more like Diablo/WoW in terms of having moves that work on a cooldown, etc?

To be honest the scenes I've seen in trailers, and cringey anime tropes (i.e. female protagonist who seems about 16 with enormous knockers and super powers) just turn me off, these days.

To add... I normally hate JRPGs.  I fell for Ni No Kuni but ended up getting fed up with it.  XC has no random encounters, fights other than set pieces or quests are always avoidable.  Massive (and I mean MASSIVE) creatures wandering about - that can ultimately be fought when you're strong enough and... more than anything... absolutely *superb* world building.  The Monolith guys helped with BOTW.  They build the absolute best worlds.  Full of imagination.  I think that's what I love the most.

XC1 story was pretty good as well.

It's a JRPG that just doesn't feel like many other JRPGs (to be fair, I haven't played a FF game since VII)

Only from the Switch itself?

I;m struggling with this as well as I think it won't let you use Paypal unless you link it first, but I can't see where you link your Paypal account on a laptop?

Edit: Click on Paypal link in here, log-in to Paypal and save offer.

On your Switch - go to eshop and select add funds, select Paypal. If you Paypal isn't linked it will send you an email. Go into email on laptop and follow instructions.

Go back to Switch and use Paypal to add funds. Select £20 and pay (it will show as £20).

Check Paypal and £15 deducted.

I can remember refunding it after beating the first boss but I can't remember why.

Didn't care for jydge or xenoraid and I was looking forward to tesla vs lovecraft but I tried the beta and that was pretty naff as well. Crimsonland is the only game of theirs I've enjoyed.

I don’t know any of those games, apart from Jydge which has been mentioned in here, and I also like the look of.

I am loving Neon Chrome. It’s very one note, but that note is meaty shooting. I think it also helps that I’ve randomly unlocked a heavy rifle, which is peachy.

Mind you I’m only on the third level, I do wonder how long the novelty will last. But I’ve already had my tenner’s worth.

Do you know if it helps to have played XC1 and XCX to enjoy 2? Or is it numbered Final Fantasy style?

All I know about Xenoblade is my Shulk amiibo.

I've also got a cheap Argos reservation just in case, but I'm wary. Don't want to be caught up in a load of shit I don't understand from not playing the two previous 50-hour epics.

I'm 6 hours in and so far nothing is related to the original. The only advantages you get is knowing how the basic mechanics work but there's a whole lot of new stuff in right now so you might as well be fresh really.

They could just reduce some of the effects, similar to Resogun on the Vita, although I think they had to halve the frame rate on that. Still the Switch is more powerful than the Vita. A game like Nex Machina could easily sell better on Switch than on PS4 and Steam combined.

It's just hard considering other twin stick shooters after playing it.

I mean imagine just being able to bust that game out whenever you felt like. It would be awesome. I hope they don't just let it die, it's their best game by far.

we sold roughly the same amount on PS4 and on Steam and under 100k copies in total. So just releasing the game on other platforms wouldn't solve the problem.

Still, several other indies say they made way more sales way faster on Switch. I wonder if that will hold true as more and more games get released.
