My little sister is getting this for Christmas (she's 13) which surprised me, as she's not really a big gamer, beyond loads of Minecraft.

She wants Splatoon 2, but besides that, what games would you recommend for a 13-year-old who doesn't really play games that often?

I suggested Mario and she really didn't seem that bothered...

Mario Kart - with the new auto-accelerate and auto-steering options, kids really feel like they are playing but it's not at all frustrating or difficult for them. Especially using motion controls as well. You can then turn the options off slowly as they gain confidence.

Minecraft, obviously. But maybe Rocket League? It's popular with streamers and all that. Or possibly Steam World Dig 2?

Is it out on Switch? I searched on Amazon and could only find the Story Mode telltale game, which she's not into.

Also, I definitely want to get her Stardew Valley, but it's online only. Is there an easy way to gift online games to someone who hasn't yet set up an account?

Yeah, MK is a classic gateway game - everyone can enjoy it, plus you have the option of two-player out of the box with the two Joy-Cons, and that's XMas afternoon's family entertainment sorted.

I’ve been offered a switch, without the dock, with Zelda for £165... that’s a bargain, right?! It’s not a nicked one before anyone asks :P

Thrown out with the packaging apparently... the guy didn’t really know what he was buying and thought it was just a handheld.

It sounds like it was nicked to me. Has it got the power supply?

Yeah, comes with the power supply.  That was my first thought, but I know the guy well... so don't think he nicked it, and pretty sure (again knowing the guy) that he genuinely thought it was a handheld.

Then again, if it's too good to be true...

I’m genuinely torn... such a good deal but I wouldn’t want buying stolen goods on my conscience.  My gut tells me he’s genuinely an idiot with more money than sense, who bought a toy that he didn’t know much about, and is now bored with it.

On the other hand, if he bought it from someone who pinched it out of a bag then I’d feel awful.

Help, rllmuk!

Does he have everything else - the power cable, the non-charging joy-con grip, the branded HDMI cable, the slide-on button-toppers etc? If he's missing those as well, alarm bells deffo ring really loud....

Sounds like someone's had one out and about in their bag with the power plug and lead and it's been robbed. Even someone a bit not with it wouldn't consider a dock and HDMI lead as packaging. It doesn't add up. Sorry.

Does he have the box for Zelda or is that in the bin too? Could be digital I suppose.

Digital, has the HDMI lead (but then not sure what he thought that was for!).

Might be genuine then. No reason for anyone to carry the HDMI lead around with them, and certainly not without the dock. If it's in good nick and you know him well enough I'd go for it.

Someone had a couple of Switch's on sale here in the trading folder without docks and leads no questions asked. I thiught that was fishy but didn't want to accuse the seller.

Apologies if I'm being thick but how on earth do I view the Switch eshop online via my laptop? I can find it mentioned everywhere on Nintendo sites but for the life of me, I can't find the actual store. Nearest I found was a page on Nintendo.com with links to download a few demo's.

You're not being thick - I have trouble everytime and then stumble across it.

Unless of course, we're both being thick ;)
