The Switch should be ideal for vertical shooters, just rotate it 90 degrees and play with the controllers detached.

Strikers 1945 (+ Gunbarich) and Namco Museum do exactly this.  Perfect for Galaga 88 (best Galaga).

I find it immensely annoying that you can't simply play vertically with the pads docked like you could with the Lynx. The switch can't support itself vertically. It's such a stupid oversight.

Christ, I’ve bought consoles that cost less than the Pro Controller. Is it worth it? I quite like the look of the Xenoblade 2 one…

My favourite ever controller, certainly a must for any switch owner.

Guys, don't wanna see anymore conversation about screen protectors, cases, charging options and the merits of the pro controller. That's just a heads up.

Somebody comes along asking if they should get a pro controller you just tell them to figure it out themselves. They're adults.

Nah, it's all good positive chat.

I love the joycons, detattched!!  They are so lovely.  I'm weird and I don't even put the strap things on though, they make them just a bit too wide to be comfy to hold!  They're so dinky without them that I almost forget I'm holding them

Arms-anywhere gaming FTW.

Thrown out with the packaging apparently... the guy didn’t really know what he was buying and thought it was just a handheld.

Go for it then, it's a bargain. What an absolute plum.

@Mars what about the other bits that come in the box?  charger, usb c, the joycon grip?

The only way I can guess that someone didn't notice the dock is if they didn't lift the top part of the packaging... which is where all the other bits are..

My little sister is getting this for Christmas (she's 13) which surprised me, as she's not really a big gamer, beyond loads of Minecraft.

She wants Splatoon 2, but besides that, what games would you recommend for a 13-year-old who doesn't really play games that often?

I suggested Mario and she really didn't seem that bothered...

Just get her Mario. She'll be forced to try it. It's so lovely. Any kids I've shown are completely mesmerized by it.

Minecraft, obviously. But maybe Rocket League? It's popular with streamers and all that. Or possibly Steam World Dig 2?
