You'd have to use all of the credit on the card first otherwise you'd lose the remainder left over after your purchase.

OK, probably best go with a debit or credit card than a pre-paid card.

So basically, what's the steps? I want to buy Wonder Boy III. I go to accounts.nintendo.com on a web browser, change region to South Africa, start up my Switch, buy and download, then (hah) switch back to UK region? Is it all that straightforward?

Pretty much. I did it when I bought BotW.

Set my region to South Africa using the web account page. Loaded up my Switch, bought BotW using my debit card. Downloaded the game and played it for a bit before switching back to the UK store. I very much doubt that last step makes a difference.

 Sounds quite straightforward. Don't have to be concerned about using any old debit or credit card for this, do I?

Best to use a credit card for safety and to avoid a transaction fee.

But yes, it’s that simple. I’ve purchased from the Russian and SA stores without any issue.

It will log you out of My Nintendo and *possibly* any other games/systems which may be linked to your NNID, so you’ll have to log back in on those too.

Who's got a case they think is really good and is both slim and protective?

The cases I've seen seem huge and I won't be carrying spare Joycons or wrist straps around so would like to save the bulk.

Any suggestions?

Does the Hori one seem big? It's quite a snug fit for the console with joycons attached, you'd not fit much else in there aside from a few game carts. It could maybe be slimmer if it was a hard case I suppose, rather than slightly squashy.

Amazon are missing a trick not having any eshop vouchers for sale in the run up to Xmas. Was going to pop one on my wish list.

Saying that, the only ones I ever see are all WiiU branded. I wonder if Nintendo are trying to phase them out?

Amazon haven't sold them in years.

Ready for a massively outlandish comment ?

Splatoon 2 up there with the most fun games I've ever played, ever. It's an absolute blast and anyone that hasn't got it needs to stop what they're doing immediately and buy it. I can see this being the game that gets both my Mrs and Daughter into gaming, they're going on at me about having a go, which isn't happening.

I'm stupid so please explain power settings.

Over the weekend I'd just put into sleep mode.  I don't get to play much in the week so on Sunday evening I pressed the power button for the prescribed three seconds and switched it off (this is all when it is docked)

When I left for work on Monday morning I switched the power off at the wall but noticed that the screen lit up for a few seconds whilst still docked.

Is the console still switched off or does it fall back and rely on the battery?

I only ask because unless I bought a dodgy North Korean rip off the manual was the thinnest pamphlet ever and explained nothing.

Thanks.

SWitch got and setting up.

Was about to go have a look on the store, but I;m noticing the wifi is awful.

It is dropping from 2 bars to 1 to none.  Now I'm farish away from my route and extender, but my laptop and Ipad have all got full signal. Is the Switch Wifi a bit crap or have I got a bad one?

I've not seen that in person, the only ones I've seen have been in Game which are thick enough for 2 consoles to be on top of each other, I've been in two branches and that's all they've had on the shop floor in both.

Do you think the Hori one is the way to go?

?

If it helps, that’s the one I wish I’d got. I have the normal official one and was put off by the Hori styling.

The official one is fine but it’s really just to keep it scratch free I guess. Wouldn’t want to chuck it in a suitcase or bag or anything.

Woah, very outlandish! Especially after everyone keeps talking about how shit it is.

I meant more along the lines of Outlandish due to the fact I bought it 6 hours ago and would already say it's possibly the most fun game I've ever played.....

That's what I've got, yes @Wahwah*.

the Argos page claims it's 4.5cm deep which I'd say is a generous estimate, it's certainly no bigger than that and maybe smaller (I would've said 3.5-4cm when measuring it myself but it's hard to be precise). I dunno what the Game one you've seen is to compare, maybe there's smaller ones!

My daughter loves it. She's too young to actually play herself (4) but she likes watching me play. Interestingly she never says 'shoot them' she always says 'splat them'. I never suggested that to her either, she just started saying it. I like how Nintendo have taken the most violent genre and turned it on its head.

Rocket League has taken my shit game to the next level. My anus is like a new pin.

Another happy Hori Case owner here. Holds the switch + joycons, five game cards (plus one in the Switch) and has an elastic loop to hold a.n. other thing - a pair of joycon sliders fits, as does a set of earbuds or a USB-C charge cable. Nice mushy/hard duality thing going on, and pretty compact - goes very nicely in my manbag (Tom Bihn Medium Café Bag, EDC fans). Only complaints are that the elastic strap is a bit fiddly to slide the joy-cons under sometimes, and that once a cart is slid into the storage sleeves, all you can see is the identical Nintendo Switch red stripe on each one, so you can't tell which is which.

AMAZON: We'll sell them but you have to give us a bigger cut.

NINTENDO: Nah mate.

AMAZON: You've made a very powerful enemy today.

NINTENDO: LOL.

Amazon are so ruddy shite nowa days, I always try and use an alternate retailer if possible.
