New switch owner here!

Am I missing something with the eShop? There's no categories (beyond chart/recent, so no way to view all Strategy or Racing games), no Cart feature that I can see (so if I want to pay for multiple games via credit card I have to do each one individually) and no store website that I can find.

It can't be this basic, surely?

There is a store website but it’s easier just to Google for the page with the game on as I’m yet to find a way to browse it.

New switch owner here too, bar setting it up to test and then boxing it up as its a birthday present in a few weeks I've not used one.

If you are out and about with the Switch how do you charge it?

Also, if taking it to other folks houses are you taking the dock with you as well? Seems a lot to carry round.

Hey, manta race players - still liking it ? How’s the AI?

Yeah its’ ok. Put a couple of hours in and for a top down Racer it’s pretty good. AI seems competent and no obvious rubber banding yet. The online works pretty seamlessly, you can change it to Switch players only which limits the amount of lobbies but still a few lobbies to choose from. Latest weekly challenge is how quickly can you lap an AI car twice so showing a bit of variety over purely time trials.

It’s quite a modest game but I’m enjoying it and definitely not regretting the purchase, equally suited to docked and handheld play which makes it a good Switch game.

Anyone else looking forward to visiting family this Christmas, safe in the knowledge the Switch will be coming along?

Hoping the Zelda DLC will be out in time otherwise might have to pick up Xenoblade for the Christmas game.

Oh my word, yes. I hauled my Wii U around last year, and played Tokyo Mirage Sessions in the conservatory. I had to Amazon Prime an HDMI cable over, mind  The Switch will be so much easier.

Xenoblade is my Christmas game this year

You're right, it's not [quite] that basic :P

You can search by genre, and the online store/website is here: http://www.nintendo.co.uk/Nintendo-Switch/Games/Games-1178441.html

You're right about the 'cart', that's not there. Easiest way to buy multiple games (if you don't want to just save your card details on the store) is to load your account up with credit first and then spend that - you enter your card details once to buy the credit, then don't have to do it for each game you buy after that. Not ideal, but about the best I have found so far. Don't think it'll let you get more than about £150 in credit though either.

Amazon are doing 128gb SanDisk micro SD cards for 32 quid at the moment. Seems like a good time to get one.

4 days after I bought one for £41

Seriously though they're not going to get lower than that. Bargain.

I've noticed though that before I've even put anything on it mine says available space is 118gb. What's happened to the other 10gb

Buy a £32 quid one and return it as the £41 quid order one? (essentially buy the cheaper one and return it unopened on the prior order)?

If it was from Amazon, just ask in chat and they might give you credit on the different anyway....

Nah, I felt like I got a good deal anyway as I got £2 knocked off as a prime member, not worth arguing the toss over £7. I'm just a sucker for a bargain!

Just watched that vid from the last page about the upcoming Switch releases, some beauties on there, Constructor will be perfect for Switch and I’ll get Terraria for a 4th time in a hope that I actually figure out what I’m doing and not give up after 5 minutes like the last 3 times.

There was another one begging with V tha looks like a spaceshippy type game where you take over planets for money, that looks right up my street

Just waiting for a Switch to arrive from Amazon this week - my first Nintendo console in decades! It was a rather shocking impulse purchase on Idiot Friday. I have no idea whether it will gather dust after Mario and Zelda get played, or somehow revolutionise my jaded outlook on gaming. It's kind of an experiement. We'll see.

I have also therefore never looked in this thread before. Hello! Some immediate thoughts while I wait:

- I'm not sure whether to buy a Pro controller straight away (how much????) or wait to see if the joy-cons are alright for my big hands first.

- I see the Nintendo 'premium'... everything is expensive and doesn't go down in price like other consoles.

- If Switch games are so expensive because of the SD-card format, why are the digital versions just as expensive or more? Yeah I know, for business reasons they don't want a difference between physical and download prices. Still sucks.

- My biggest worry is that game saves are stuck on one physical Switch. It seems like madness that there's no cloud saving or transfer to SD card. I must assume there'll be a software update in the future to allow it?

- I could see myself using the Switch to play The Binding of Isaac Afterbirth +... even though I've already played it for 500 hours on Steam and it only cost mere pounds there.

The Nine Parchments demo is a bit of a let-down, seems like it has no balancing for single-player at all. Not the biggest of problems if a game is meant to be played 4-player, but it makes for a quite grindy start to things when you're doing it all on your own.

Unless it already is balanced for single-player, in which case ... Holy shit, that's tricky!

Has anyone ever played Red Game Without A Great Name? I'm always suspicious when I see a game for such a low price.

Pro Controller is ace, can’t recommend it enough but obviously depends on how much you’ll be playing docked. I can’t imagine having a mammoth Zelda session with the joycons.

Yeah, everything is expensive although there is a digital store region switch workaround which is pretty straightforward that will save you many quids if you’re going digital.

No cloud saves is just bananas in this day and age. Losing my 100 hour Zelda save if I drop my switch or the thing just breaks is just a constant source of anxiety. You can transfer between consoles but that’s fucking useless for most. If they can’t do cloud, then transferring to SD needs to come fast

Also, buy Splatoon 2.

Can anyone tell me how much Splatoon 2 is on the eShop please ? It's £48 at Amazon so I may as well buy it digitally

Likewise, if anyone knows of any good Splatoon 2 deals then I'm all ears! I'm trying to hold off from buying any games until I've finished Zelda but a reduced price Splatoon 2 would be irresistable.

Arrrr you guys, it was £37.99 on Amazon throughout Black Friday but it's gone back up to £47 :(

Dunno if you are eligible for Amazon PrimeNOW but if so you can get £10 off your first order today by entering TENNOW at checkout.
I was going to use this for Splatoon 2 but then I realised that Super Mario Odyssey is a thing and that I'm powerless to resist it.

(£32 for a physical copy of Odyssey after discount)
