Man, I think MP 1 is just perfect - apart from that final boss fight. Nothing wrong with the mechanics.

Phenandra Drifts is still one of the most beautiful areas in a videogame.

Haven't beaten the boss yet, but I haven't tried for a long time but I love this game. I can't wait for Switch Version. I also want to see Port of Metroid prime 1-3 and echoes for switch as well.

@Timbuktu Hot UK Deals are claiming that you'll be able to get the Neon console + Mario Odyssey for £279.99 from 3pm on Amazon. Can't see anything on Amazon to indicate this but might be worth keeping an eye on.

Thanks again.  Got that deal at 3pm, a lot of people must have been waiting for it, all gone within a couple of minutes.

I bagged the Odyssey pack from Amazon in the wee hours this morning. Properly excited to get my hands on it.

I will be playing almost exclusively in docked mode, is the normal style extra controller worth it or are the little bits in the handle thing OK for big hands?

Also, other than an SD card are there any extras that are essential?

Managed to put about an hour into Mantis Burn Racing and I’m cautiously optimistic about it - it nails the handling really well, the sliding and drifting is very easy to execute but feels like a nice layer of depth to it and your vehicles keep getting upgraded to be faster/handling etc.

Sound is horrible, both music and engine noises, but graphically quite pretty (if a little brown/dark)

Does feel like a lot of content in there with online and offline modes, and all the DLC from other versions.

Been a while since I’ve played a micro machines style game that feels as good as this, you don’t feel like you’r driving blind off the edge of the screen all the time and the price is low enough to take a punt - feels like the sort of thing that used to  be great for 1200 MS points in the good old days of X360 MS store.

I bought it last night, and I agree. If it had a bit more “pizazz” in the presentation it would be better. The sound effects are pretty horrific, I thought my speakers had burst or something.

Played about an hour and enjoying it

Switch Get :)

Two slight problems though.  I think I may have to eventually get the Pro controller as the JoyCons feel a touch small.  Also the only free space in the TV stand I had makes it look incredibly small (in a good way)

I've played about half an hour of BotW so far and having read one or two favourable comments I have high hopes.  A couple of hop, skips and jumps in Mario were also special although this might be the reason for the Pro controller (B, Y plus trying to move the camera felt a bit awkward)

I'm tempted, it's probably the best one on mobile and of course the developers are responsible for my favourite game of all time.

i didn't even know it was a mobile game. I pre ordered it before i knew that.

But it does have Unlimited in the title plus its set on an Island and theres not much racing on the switch.

Ironically i bought the switch to replace and upgrade my mobile gaming as i find most powerful phones hugely overpriced for what they are in gaming.

Oh and the idea of supporting Microids appeals to the Amiga youth in me. God knows how they've survived as a publishing house.

Thanks for the Switch advice re physical vs downloads. I never considered the resale thing as its not something I often do. Often by the time i get around to playing a title, it's yesterdays news so the resale value is very little.

i checked out the Switch game boxes today, they're very nice aren't they?

if I purhase from the shop, then when Nintendo inevitably release their Switch XL with a larger screen, I assume I can just redownload or transfer from SD card?

How big are the game downloads for AAA titles, anyway?

I'm slightly leaning towards boxed versions and digital versions for less important games.

Just like the other consoles, I wouldn't worry about a new model for a few years yet. And Nintendo's proper online shiz launches early next year with save transfers etc.

Also ironically (since Switch is a handheld so pure digital would suit it more) the resale value for Switch games is quite high.

nice idea, just showed up on my youtube feed - a fatter dock with built in projector and 4h battery, quite a narrow set of use cases where folks would want to spend the money but looks impressive.

It's a nice idea, but the sort of mini projector they'll be putting in it, at that price point, will be really really bad.

With no good Black Friday deals for them, just burnt the last of my CEX trade-in credit for Bomberman R and Puyo Puyo Tetris, from their website. Never bought second hand goods blind like this, so we’ll see what the condition is like.

Quite pleased with the CEX experience in general, though. Got rid of a heap of crap and clutter, and got four Switch games.

That gives me Mario Kart, PPT and Bomberman for 4P local multiplayer. Woo woooo.

Liking the Joy Cons much more now.  I've got that 'playing games with my arms wherever' vibe the Wii gave me.

Is there a way to save screen shots to a USB stick or is it only to an SD card?

I love arm's-wherever gaming! I'm recovering from an illness at the mo so spending a fair bit of time in bed.  The other night I ended up playing skyrim lying cosy in bed, with the switch screen propped up on my chest / belly and my arms with joycons under the covers. So blissed! :D

Also, people use the share to Twitter function to get screens / videos online.
