I find it strange that there aren’t more racing games on Switch, especially “arcade” ones. Vita had Motorstorm RC and Need for Speed, and going back further on handheld there were games like Ridge Racer, Outrun, Burnout and Wipeout.

In recent times arcade racers died off, but surely  they would be a great fit on Switch?

I’d go even further and suggest a new SSX or Tony Hawks would find a good home on the Switch

Can I have Hotline Miami on Switch as well? Ok thanks, bye.

sorry, me again... OlliOlli as well please? Cheers.

Man I would buy a port of Ridge Racer 6 or 7 in a heartbeat.  Switch could easily handle it.

Best game.

The Next Penelope really is a great game,. and I do think I'll put more time into it on Switch than I did on PC so will be buying that again.

Racing Apex looks right up my street. Day one!

Brakes Are For Losers will be getting bought purely on the strength of the name. 90s Super GP will be bought only if they don't Switch-tax the fuck out of it. Descenders looks worthy of investigating.

Redout is one that I'm surprised I haven't bought already, so may well finally dive in.

All in all, that's good stuff. Best console!

Most of those games look like upscaled PS2 budget racers. Amazing how we accept such low standards because it's indie.

Amazing how much emphasis people put on graphics before even knowing how something plays.....even when it's indie.....

I dunno, you can sort of tell how a few of them will play. And not in a good way! I'll be happy to be surprised, but watching that 90s Racer thing where a car does lame sub-Ridge Racer drifts (while a caption says 'drift!') around an empty track, yeesh. And that wasn't even the worst! Maybe it was early footage.

Graphics mean nothing to me, I barely pay attention to them. I pay attention to performance and the gameplay details and base them on 30 years of gaming experience.

Most of these, look mediocre. Gear Club is a £45 mobile game. Aqua and Snow are average mobile games too.  90s racer looks poor, far worse that Daytona on PS3/360 and that's almost 25 years old. The off road buggy game looks like third tier shit, not because of the visuals, but because I've played these games before from developers that simply don't know how to make them exciting.

The downhill biking one looks solid enough and could be interesting. I'm looking forward to Racing Apex to some extent, despite the neutered Burnout style handling that's in ever arcade game nowadays.

Racing games need a shake up. Badly.

What's the Virtua Racing one with the shooting? I might've got mixed up. That looked a bit sparse too but hey, maybe.

As a keen mountain biker I want to play that but also can't help noticing the way the bike handling/physics looks very unrealistic... which might help it play better, so still maybe interested.

Is Penelope in the wrong list as it looks like a shooter?

Gear club was more interested in showing off how pretty its cars were than how it actually plays, never a good sign.

Racing Apex, the Virtua Racer rip off with machine guns is the slowest racing game I’ve seen in some time, but it’s a bit different so probably one of the more promising games on the list.

Aqua motor racing has the worst water in any game ever. Ever. I can’t program, nor have I any artistic ability, but give me a day and a programming textbook and I reckon I could produce water to rival that.

Brakes are for Losers. I think I already got this for free in Mario Odyssey?

Beach Buggy Racing is being released on a console which has Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

I’m not sure if Snow Moto Racing is a trick based game or racer. Or some mix like 1080? Either way it just made me want for 1080. One without single digit frame rates like this mess.

90s drift racing game doesn’t have any competitors on the track. I’m sure that’ll be great fun.

Descenders, the bmx downhill racing game actually looks good fun. Might get that on release.

Redout appears to be a poor mans Fast RMX, which is a poor mans Wipeout, which is a poor mans Star Wars Pod Racer which is a poor mans F Zero.

That Gear Club game is a F2P mobile game that they're charging £45 for on the Switch!! No thanks.

Motorsport manager was a "Mobile game" too and the PC version is sensational.

I doubt they'll just release the mobile game for £45.

I have Redout on PC and really prefer it to Fast RMX. The massive fisheye effect on RMX puts me off and I'm not keen on the orange/blue power system. The slidey handling in Redout feels good to me it just looks and sounds cooler and may well re-buy on Switch.

It's not F-Zero though of course.
