How far did you get with Mania? It took about four zones for it to click with me and after that I loved it.

I was up to one on an airship I think. I did enjoy a couple of the bosses but the platforming left me ice cold.

I know for certain I'll be adding at DOOM to this list on payday, and may also add LA Noire and Skyrim. I'm also sitting here right now considering adding Rocket League, and looking through the eShop listings and getting a touch bewildered at how many more games I probably already should have added to this list.

This console isn't yet a year old...

It might be because I've got a PC for indies and other bits but aside from the 5 games I have, nothing else really appeals. That's not a problem, I'm happy with what I've got, but what else is meant to be coming over the next few months/year? Other than Metroid in a year or more's time, I haven't seen anything big and Nintendo-y on the horizon.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 next month :)

After that Pokemon at some point, no doubt Smash Bros. Also rumours of new games, brand new IP in development. Likely to be a Nintendo Direct in Jan with new information.

But between now and then only really XC2 and Zelda DLC which is now rumoured to be announced officially and released shortly after the Game Awards.

Is 1 2 Switch worth picking up second hand for festive lols, then throwing back on eBay? Or is it just a bit shit?

Sounds like it should have been free with the console, to be honest.

It's a good laugh. It's great in kitchens at parties I've found. Works really well on work tops, just the right height for it.

I've always thought reading along the spines of your physical game collection should make a story, a memoir of your travels, a journey with ebbs and flows. The above way has been categorically proven to be the Best Way.

I thought it was shit.  I'm bang up for the concept but I found it all too clunky in practice.  Traded it in.

Really not worth the money and not a patch on its closest relative Wii Sports in terms of fun and immediacy. Should have been free with the system, no doubt, but I found there’s a higher level of resistance to it vs. Wii Sports; people feel much more comfortable playing virtual tennis, a well understood sport, compared with milking a cow which, at worst, can look like air masturbation.

It's probably the worst Nintendo games I've ever played.

The fundamental flaw with 1-2 Switch is that it's a really, really bad party game, which is its entire reason to exist. Most of the games are so shallow and one-note you'll probably never want to play them again, but despite being so shallow you really need to watch the instruction videos to understand the concept of the games and the controls. So you have these painfully slight minigames that are little more than proof of concept, but you have to get everyone to sit down and be quiet and watch a 30-60 second long video to understand the rules of a game that can be as short as 15 seconds. Good luck when the alcohol is flowing. And even when you do watch the videos, they're still often annoyingly vague about what you actually do when the game starts.

It just completely misses the mark in nearly every way. Wii Sports worked because you didn't need to explain anything to anyone, you just picked up the remote and swung it about. 1-2 Switch crashes and burns as a party game because it completely lacks that accessibility.

Persuasive write-up. I'll give it a miss.

Sounds like the Switch could really do with a decent Wario Ware game, even if it's just a comparatively lazy port of the original/Twisted.

But it is still isn’t as frustrating as other online shooters for rubbish players?

I'm crap at them too but don't ever find splatoon frustrating. It's really good fun, each round is short and you will probably find you do better in this than expected if you concentrate on painting not taking others down, at least while you learn the ropes.

Yes, the frame rate is rather janky and yes, the resolution can drop into “am I drunk” at times but Rime is really lovely, feels at home on the switch.

The physical version is in a lovely case with a great inlay (I love switch case inlays) and an instruction booklet! Like the good old days.

It may run like a dog on the switch but it’s a lovely dog that you wouldn’t want to put down.
