Oh and list thread in coming:

Physical

Super Mario Odyssey

Breath of the Wild

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Puyo Puyo Tetris

Arms

Doom

Splatoon 2

Lego City Undercover

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle

Pokken Tournament

Rime

Digital

Golf Story

Sonic Mania

I am Satsuna

Kamiko

Super Bomberman R

Thumper

Mr Shifty

Wonder Boy The Dragons Trap

And I only bought the bloody thing in June - and I've um mainly just played an awful lot of Splatoon 2 (and a reasonable amount of Puyo Puyo and Odyssey - I really have to stop buying games - I haven't actually played Zelda on the Switch yet although I did play 40 hours odd on the WiiU).

Personally for me I prefer physical to digital - whilst I love the convenience of digital I love the boxes and as I generally play stuff and then trade it the lack of resale for me is a big turn off on digital.  That said I really should have got Splatoon digital as I'm clearly never going to sell it and if I had something else in the cartridge slot I might on occasion play something else lol.

I’m way behind all you guys, but this is still the most I’ve gamed in about 12 years. Bloody love this little machine.

Zelda (only physical game I own, rest all digital)

Mario Kart 8

Super Mario Odyssey

Sonic Mania

FIFA 18

Jackbox Party Pack 3

Will be picking up Rocket League after I’ve sunk a bit more time into Odyssey. On the fence with Splatoon 2 as most of the time I play it’s on the move or on my lunch at work when I have no internet access. I guess that will impact on Rocket League too, but the cost isn’t too prohibitive on that one.

Nintendo switch and Mario odyseey bought for boys birthday in Jan debating what other game to get. Mario kart 8?  When he and his bro have had it and played loads on wii u. BOTW similarly have on wii u and being played extensively at present. He's turning 11 so not sure if Skyrim would appeal or if it would be too similar an experience to BOTW. Have some Sainsbury vouchers to use up in the next couple of days and can't make my mind up.

Has he played Splatoon 2? If not, get that!

Oh forgot about that, he loved the first one on Wii u so will look into it, though not sure it's as readily available at Sainsburys as some of the other more common titles.

Am I missing out on something special with Splatoon 2? I didn’t bother with the original on the Wii U. I’m shit at games anyway, particularly online shooters, and often play through campaign modes on easy or regular at best due to my crapness and a lack of time to improve. Due to this, playing shooters online, spawn, get sniped within seconds, respawn and repeat, isn’t a lot of fun for me. However it sounds as if Splatoon may not be as bad for this, or have such a gulf between noobs and die hard players.

Getting killed instantly is not a big problem as you can always spawn at the spawn point and you are protected. However, the game is pretty quick and the point is to constantly push and paint more than the other team so there's always danger lurking.

I like this game. My list, all digital

Zelda

Mario Odyssey

Mario Kart 8

Mario & Rabbids

Stardew Valley

Steamworld Dig 2

Puyo Puyo Tetris

Snipperclips

That’s it. Not a dud in there. Just bought Steamworld Dig 2 this morning. It’s proven to be a perfect Sunday afternoon game, although the background soundtrack leaves something to be desired... (the game music is lovely, the misses is watching Real Housewives)

I'm surprised how many of you have physical versions of the big first party games like Mario and Zelda. I would have thought it would be the other way round, as they're the ones you'll be playing most, and won't want to be swapping cartridges all the time. Is there a reason to go physical that I'm missing?

Physical is forever. Digital copies are only available for as long as the eshop is up.

I'm like you but I found splatoon 2 good fun when I stopped trying to avoid being killed. Like, being killed is fine. When you embrace that fact it's 97% less frustrating for us noobs.

Anyone ranking 1-2 Switch over Stardew Valley and Sonic Mania should probably be sectioned for the good of society. I mean honest to god, Jolly, the state of the bottom of that list.

Ha! I actually like everything from Stardew upwards, but I'm starting to learn that I should probably keep my opinions on Mania to myself. Thankfully, I do think it represents the point I've finally realised that Sonic just isn't for me and I should probably stop wasting money and time trying to understand it.

Nice selection @Jolly I hear you with the physical thing. I'm the same.

Good effort fellas but you're doing it ever so slightly wrong. The trick is to start with Nintendo's flagship titles at the front - so mainline Mario always goes first, followed by mainline Zelda. Then follows first-party Nintendo in order of mainstream appeal, so Mario Kart and Smash Bros will always be ahead of Starfox or Animal Crossing, for example. Then, third-party Nintendo-published. Then third-party western-published, followed finally by third-party Japanese-published bringing up the rear. That way you're left with your real niche stuff, all the SNK fighters and Taito shmups, making a nice end to the collection. The above applies to any console manufacturer really, just swap Nintendo out for Sony if need be.

I've always thought reading along the spines of your physical game collection should make a story, a memoir of your travels, a journey with ebbs and flows. The above way has been categorically proven to be the Best Way.
