Skyrim is blowing my mind a little bit. I'm finding I'm already finding I'm taking it a lot slower because the time I now have to enjoy it isn't limited to hours here and there or late night playing.

Cart:

Zelda

Mario

Mario + Rabbids

Digital:

Splatoon 2

FIFA

Skyrim

Steamworld

Golf Story

Minecraft

Sonic

Rocket League

Picross

Stardew Valley

I managed to hold off Doom for now but know it won't be long before it joins the party. Snipperclips might be a must buy before Christmas too; took my Switch on holiday and it was a brilliant conversation starter of an evening.

LISTS:

Shopping

Christmas

Wedding

To do

Wish

Pros/Cons

Dynamic Linked

Schindler's

I've been trying to get into that Christmas list this weekend, but it seems expensive for what it is. I might give it a break and go back to it in a few weeks, see if I find it easier then.

This is so true. I’m talking to people, listening and taking it all in rather than just rattling through it. Really find it hard to play these kind of games on a big TV, especially when it takes so long to set everything up and wait for it to load.

I’m hoping for re-releases of 3D World and Tropical Freeze, maybe in a summer lull.

I never owned a WiiU because of the region-locking and living abroad and the hassle of that, so I'm still hoping for ports of a whole bunch of exclusives.

Bayonetta 2

Captain Toad

Tropical Freeze

Hyrule Warriors

NSMBU + Luigi U

Pikmin 3

3D World

Mario Maker

Tokyo Mirage Sessions

Wonderful 101

Woolly World

Gimme all of 'em.

I imagine we're more likely to see sequels to some of these than ports,  but whatever. It's all good.

Got to go physical for the first party stuff.

I'm surprised how many of you have physical versions of the big first party games like Mario and Zelda. I would have thought it would be the other way round, as they're the ones you'll be playing most, and won't want to be swapping cartridges all the time. Is there a reason to go physical that I'm missing?

not happened yet but I'm looking forward to the thread which non-ironically asks people to list their top 10 favourite list threads

I love a list as much as the next forumite, but I'm kind of missing the point or value in listing the games we've got on a console that is less than a year old.

Perrsonally because Nintendo 1st party games hold their value and make a nice addition to a physical collection. I can see the benefits of digital but why would you not want Nintendo's games in physical? :)

Physical is significantly cheaper and you can lend/sell them.  I expect to have more than one switch in the house eventually so it'll be handy to be able to play any game on any console.

I generally only focus on one 'big' game at a time so the ability to swap quickly between Zelda and another game would be pointless for me personally. Plus, cost.

I did buy MK8 digitally but generally I only buy indies on the estore.

Getting a Switch now must be a (pleasant) nightmare of sorts. Having all those games at once would surely mean they couldn’t get your total attention.

I also like being able to sell my collection in the future once it inflates in value, especially when everdrive type stuff becomes available.

The only reason I have a Switch was because I sold all of my PSOne RPGs. The Gamecube collection will be going next, likely to fund whatever hardware comes next.

On my Switch I have:

Breath of the Wild

Disgaea 5

Mario Odyssey

Golf Story

Puyo Puyo Tetris

Stardew Valley.

All digital, the only physical game I intend to buy is Xenoblade Chronicles 2 because I want the Collectors Edition and because it takes me forever to complete games having games I can play in bitesize chunks like Mario and Disgaea on the machine at all times is a real plus.

Just got Rime delivered. Impressions soon!

Can you do Sean Connery?

Traded in my Wii U and a bunch of other crud for £140 CEX credit. Left with Zelda and Mario + Rabbids, the latter of which sounds like it’ll perfectly fill my play-until-Xenoblade-arrives requirements.

That leaves me with plenty of spare credit, which I think I’ll save until after Black Friday.

Some people just like a plastic box with a printed, paper insert on their shelf.

I know, right.

I always mostly prefer physical, and the Switch cases and carts are so very touchable (but not lickable).

However, in this case it has a practical purpose as the girlfriend has a Switch as well. Buying physical means we only need to buy the big single player games once.

Yeah, this is definitely a valid reason. There are plenty of others actually - first party Nintendo games hold their value really well, so if you’re the type to sell your games on you’ll get a decent amount of your money back. Physical also tends to be cheaper than digital, though that’s not so much the case with the South African store.

For me though, the convenience of digital trumps everything.

Mine came yesterday so I gave it a an hour or so this morning -  (in handheld mode in bed because well thats why I went for the Switch version natch).

Now I've not played the PS4 or indeed any other format version but I have seen plenty of footage and yes it  does indeed look considerably rougher on the small screen.

I'm crap at judging resolutions and frame rates but I can tell you it looks rather hazy/blurry (but in a kind of endearing water colour fashion) but the animation seems nice and its lovely drawn.  The frame rate is not smooth however and it doesn't take too much to get the occasional judder.  Controls quite smoothly though.  I love the art style but compare it say to The Wind Waker played on the WiiU gamepad, from which its taken considerable inspiration and it doesn't come off too well as a visual experience.  It is however quite playable, if a little rough.

So yeah its not a great port.  But you can play in bed, on the train and on the toilet and that means for me its got a good chance of being played rather than if I bought the PS4 version it will lurk in the pile of shame queue.

And the game seems lovely so far, love the way it drops you in with no direction as to what anything means on the island and just lets you explore and the art is really Wind Waker meets Ico.  I'm really liking it but I guess you'd only buy this version if like me you value the portability factor more than performance
