I have XC2 preordered with Simply, I’m torn between (hopefully) getting it a day or two early and having it digital.

 

I’d still like to play Doom, Skyrim and Fire Emblem Warriors but don’t want to pay full price for them.

 

The only Switch game I didn’t get on with, and sold on, was Arms.

I might be having a mental breakdown, but since the hint of homebrew ( and now it's more than a hint, it's happening!) on 3.0.0 fw, I've been using another Switch to play on and keep on the latest firmware, I have decided to start BOTW from scratch again, it's been several months since I touched it last, but currently it seems like a half decent idea

Yeah I'd definitely recommend carrying on this course of buying and playing Switch games. Much safer.

Setup surprisingly swift, until the registering an account bit bounced me off to my phone. Downloaded the demos of Snipperclips, Puyo Tetris and Project Octopath Traveller, the latter of which was a real surprise - I had no idea there was a demo.

 

Popped the back off the dock completely, so I can set up/tear down more quickly. I think it’ll sit next to the TV for evening play and night charging, then get the cables pulled and tucked behind the TV and be tossed into a shelving box for the day. 

 

My wife absolutely loved Snipperclips - coop with no time pressure, which depends on thinking more than reflexes. We finished the demo and she said “Buy it!”. Will look for the plus version tomorrow.

 

Puyo Tetris was pretty nuts on my brief play on swap mode. Not sure what to make of it. 

 

Octopath was intriguing - it feels something in between a late SNES JPRG (e.g. FF6) and an early PSX one (e.g. Grandia). The voice acting is really annoying though, and the music was mixed so high during the intro that I had to strain to hear it. I’ve adjusted the balance now, so I should give it another go. Intrigued to see a Japanese voices option again.

 

Looking forward to seeing what I can extract from CEX tomorrow.

Also remember that once you register them, a countdown starts towards their expiry. Maybe hold off registering the cartridges until there's something worth using the points for? Unless they also expire if you don't register them - I have no idea.

I borrowed 1-2 Switch off a mate and was playing it last night with my girlfriend, and it is surprisingly hilarious to play. Some real crackers in there, and I am now the house catwalk champ, so nice to finally have an official confirmation on that.

 

I got my first ‘dead’ controller, after playing the hot dog eating game the right controller would not respond to anything, even though the green side light was on. I looked it up online and it seems pressing the tiny indented button on the side resyncs the controller, which worked fine. But does this mean I’ve got one that needs sending away?

I don't think your controller needs sending, it just bugged out.  I've had it happen a few times.

I'm thinking of treating myself to a Switch at the end of the month for my Christmas break (curse you Zelda and Mario)

 

Quick question though.  Does the dock need to be placed in front of the TV (like the Wii sensor bar) or can I put it in the free space I have in the TV stand that is nearer the floor?

I love a list as much as the next forumite, but I'm kind of missing the point or value in listing the games we've got on a console that is less than a year old.

It demonstrates how much people are already enjoying their console even though it's still relatively new. I think that's the point for me, the variety is impressive for a console that's only been around 8 months or so.

Anyone else's Switch console creak a little? Mine has started doing it when a little pressure is applied to the bottom of the console between the charge port and the kick-stand. Not the end of the world, but I'm worried I damaged it when it fell off the settee the other day
