I'd be very, very wary about preordering RIME. It's a nice game but it didn't exactly run smoothly on PS4 and early hands-on impressions are pointing to a port that could be a bit of a dog's dinner. I'd consider maybe waiting for more solid impressions before laying down the cash for it.

Well it will be an interesting one as it does have a good port studio behind it and it is a UE4 game.

Wasn’t convinced about digital downloads for games but mario has convinced me very quickly about having it good to go at all times! :)

 

I switched from cart to digital on Zelda and Mario and both saves worked fine :)

i understand that the scratches I originally mentioned must be made by particles on the rubber or plastic within the Dock, rather than the rubber itself, which can’t make a scratch.

 

The answer to this is simple - while I don’t have a first batch Switch, the heat generated by the Switch has warped the Dock, because I don’t have the same clearance any more.

Yeah I did see the worrying screenshots but I have wanted to play Rime for an age but held out for the Switch version for the portability factor (well its more the play it on the sofa whilst Mrs is watching shit factor) so I'm committed now.  I can live with a slightly rough frame rate...

Well those screenshots could be the result of a bug or maybe there's a day one patch coming. The version that was seen being played on a switch looked okay.

You can click cancel rather than download and the game will start with just single player available.

The general presentation in Mario doesn't really shine all that well in 720p either. But still, it's good to have the option of portability - that dock is also extremely portable if you're going to be spending a lot of time somewhere where you have access to a TV.

Didn’t bring dock but the TV is secured to the wall that hotel way to make sure you can’t accesss the ports. The number of people on the flight going “wow look Mario” was honestly ridiculous.

I thought I saw it was $20 so assuming £17.99 to £20.

I know I'm a massive raging fanboy - but sitting playing Doom at the climbing centre with my coffee while my son was at his class was just *brilliant*.  I've played it on PS4, but I've upped the difficulty and sitting with the switch about 2 inches from my face as the intense industrial metal kicks in during a major gunfight is every bit as intense and wonderful as it was playing it on PS4.  I don't know what magic they're using to make 30fps look so smooth.

 

Yes yes yes... I'm sure playing it on a 60" 4K telly with HDR on a top of the range PC or PS4 Pro or Xbox One X sitting in a room with 5.1 sound perfectly positioned is just wonderful - but I don't have that and I'm not likely to at any point in the near future.  I game when I can but rarely get the chance to game on the telly once the kids are in bed... so the vast majority of my gaming is done on the train or on the couch.  It's the only way I managed to finish Xenoblade (loved it on the Wii but only got to complete it on the 3DS) and why I've managed to put 200 hours into BotW.  I can't wait for Skyrim because *at last* I'll be able to do that game justice.  I've completed it - but that was pretty much by stubbornly ignoring everything but the main quest.  It's why I won't be getting Monster Hunter on PS4 - because there's no point.  There's no point me getting the next Red Dead game... I'll never get through Witcher 3 (a game I adore as well).  I've got GTA V sitting there barely touched...   but being able to play games wherever and whenever I get a chance with the option to shove them on the big telly when I can - it's totally transformed how I play games.  What a machine.

It was a Splatoon 2 day for me! I loved the first one but was gutted it wasn't gamepad only and couldn't give it the time is deserved. 

 

The sequel though, is glorious (as I'm sure the first one is really, but being handheld is perfect for me) :P
