What special powers are needed to buy from there?  I can’t see anywhere to buy a SA eshop card.

UK cards work fine - I used my Monzo card as they don’t charge a fee when you buy in another currency. Skyrim is £35 too.

I know this has been asked a zillion times, but is there a handy guide to setting things up to allow you to buy from other region eshops?  I’ve not been tempted before, but Skyrim and Doom for £70 vs £50 for just one is v tempting.

I ordered that Orzly mispriced case bundle for £9.99 that came with a load of gubbins thrown in, amongst the stuff are their screen protectors.

I’ve never used a screen protector for anything, should I start now?

Incidentally the bundled joycon grips that I thought would be pointless are very nice.

First time I've used one, but y'know...these dock scratches.

The other Switch in the house has said scratches, so direct experience etc.

How do you go about buying from other countries' e-shops?

Thankfully it’s very easy ^_^

1. Go to here: https://my.nintendo.com/

2. In Account Settings change your region (the cheapest for these two games is South Africa). It’ll give you some rubbish about disconnecting your Nintendo ID, this is just your old 3DS/Wii/Wii U account which you can reconnect any time.

3. Open the eShop on your Switch, it’ll ask you to login again

4. Profit (for Nintendo)!

Only some regions accept a UK card, but South Africa is one of them. I use my Monzo card so I don’t get any fees for paying in a foreign currency.

Does the eShop taking PayPal now mean you can buy from any store without messing about buying credit first?

Yes and no. Only a few stores allow you to pay with PayPal, and the one I tried said the region of my PayPal account didn’t match up so it didn’t work.

Also, don’t add credit because if you have any remaining credit (it’s likely you will), you cannot change regions so you cannot revert back to the UK. You should also only use the REQUIRED AMOUNT when using a bank card.

Doom looks pretty nice but i don't think i'll be double dipping unless i find it less than 20 quid.

Mario Odyssey and Rocket League should keep me busy for a while. Is Rocket League definitely released next Tuesday? Couldn't see it on the e shop.

I still got far too may games on my PC to play as well.

Just set up a new Nintendo Account for whatever region you want to buy from, then swap to that when you open the eShop. You can use any games bought on it with any account on your system.

DON'T just swap your main account's region - you'll lose any stored credit.

You don’t lose the stored credit - it just flat out won’t let you change if you do have credit. Swapping regions on my main account is my preferred option as it keeps everything tied to one account.

I guess there is no gyro aiming on Doom?  The lack of this is more of a turn off than lack of 60 fps.

There is a motion control option but it says it only works in non-handheld mode, and even then I could get them to work.

Also there is a photo-mode button on the controller config but doesn't seem to work either. Odd.

I'm being stupid I know, but this won't lead to a 'choose profile' or anything - the game will still appear alongside my other purchases on the home page?

It will, yes.  I've things bought on UK, US and JP accounts and they're all just there on the home screen and I can play any of them with any of the accounts.

Some of the JP games are even in English when played on a UK console (Kamiko and Plantera DX, for example).

Motion control option could mean shake to melee.  I'm referring to actual fine tune aiming with motion of the right joycon and but using the analog stick for larger movements.  Bit Like Splatoon 2 aiming without the analog stick restricted to horizontal movement only.  I use gyro aiming these days with my Steam controller which is brilliant and I cannot go back to analog stick only aiming. Imo this should be the standard going forwards.

So what’s the answer?!?

Are they easy to put on and take off?

I’ve got one of them tempered glass ones on mine, so easy I could have let my 8 year old do it.

(if I let her anywhere near the family Switch)
