This makes me not want to update....

I barely understand HDMI standards, but have you tried plugging the Switch directly into the surround via the official hdmi cable?

You can't. The Switch itself has no HDMI out - you have to go via the dock.

Japanese trailer for Snipperclips Plus:

The co-op collage/paint mode looks neat. Seeing the insane stuff people make in Splatoon, I hope there's some way of sharing them in-game, rather than just screenshotting and posting online. I imagine there won't be, though.

It is happening to a fair few now. Reported on Nintendo website.

I updated last night - one thing I did notice: on each set of joy-cons I had, it took much longer to update the right joy-con than the left one - so the update is clearly actually bigger for the right and doing something, we just have no idea what.

No issues to report in terms of stuff not working so far. More news as it breaks.

Does anyone know what the Joycon update does?

Not sure if anyone knows.

I do wonder if there is some fix for the left joycon though? Maybe it can connect to the right joycon before sending the signal back to the docked switch? Or i'd like to think so.

I have a dilemma, a good one, but a dilemma nevertheless....

I’ve got enough money to buy one game, either Zelda or Mario and I’m not sure which to get. I’m tempted to jump on the Mario hype train with everyone else but part of me thinks I’d prefer Zelda (even though I’ve never played one)...

May have to sleep on it

Surely there is no bad choice here. But, like you, I had never played Zelda before and loved it. This week I returned to it after a few weeks away. It's the game that keeps giving ;)

Deffo Mario. Being part of the launch for a game this big will be a buzz. Zelda will still be utterly amazing whenever you get around to playing it, but you can't beat a bit of launch day madness.

If you can only have one, I'd say get Mario and enjoy the shared hype. Once it's finished, it'll likely be finished, if you know what I mean, and you can trade it in for Zelda. BotW will probably give you four or five times as much game (pure speculation) til your next big title. 100 hours and counting here and I've only done half the shrines. I went back yesterday after a couple of months away and lost four hours to it. Fabulous game.

Was hoping the Joycon update would activate the light in the home button, but I've still never seen it come on. Stupid Nintendo.

I’ve had the joycon in pieces and I’m 99% sure there’s no light in it.

I think it's more fun to be playing at the same time as everyone else.  So I'd go with Mario for that reason.

Get Mario to join in the first play hype and OMGS... play Zelda at Christmas.
