Is that transfer profile and save data option just a way to move everything from one Switch to another rather than a backup option?

Yeah I think so.  It's not explained but 'transfer' suggests the data is deleted after the copy.

Just bought The Count Lucanor. Had a friend who was going on about it for ages last year when it was released on PC. 

 

Edit: God, I'm tempted to pick up both Revenant Saga and Elliot Quest later today when they're up as well.

Yeah, you have to go into the Settings menu and update manually.

Video capture, but only the previous 30 seconds, and only on 4 games? When is streaming coming like they promised?

Seems Mario Kart 8 DX got a bunch of updates too. Bit weird why the video capture only works on certain games (maybe a license thing).

Well, Mario only worked with an update and the rest are also first party. I expect everything else will follow suit when Nintendo receives/allows their updates.

Should be at least a minute really, 30 seconds just feels a bit too short. By the time you realise something has happened you want to capture you've probably lost it by then.

More likely the game has to do something to enable it.   Maybe put some Ram aside or some such.   It doesn't automatically worth with any game as MK8 needed an update to enable it.

I don't think it's coming. I have a elgato anyway so it doesn't bother me (and if anything stops hoards of other people streaming).

I feel so old and out of touch these days.  I just don't understand why people want to stream games or why you'd want to watch someone else's stream.

For me, watching someone else play a game is like listening to them talk about the crazy dream they had last night. I get about ten seconds in and start wishing for some space debris to come crashing down into my skull.

 

It's nice that the kids are into it, though. I used to spend ages waiting for Teletext pages to refresh so I could find out about Hybrid Heaven or some shit, so I'm hardly one to judge.

I think watching something like a speed run or the Nintendo World Championships is sometimes interesting. But there needs to be a goal in mind. 

 

But just watching a stranger mess around in a game seems pointless to me. Although saying that, when I was younger, having your mates round and watching everyone have a go on the SNES was a good laugh. So I suppose it’s sort of the same thing.  Except this person you’re watching isn’t your friend, it’s a stranger making pennies out of you watching them.

Kids can't afford every game, so perhaps watching someone stream them is one way to see the game.

 

People like to see someone very skilled at a game. Stuff like speedrun streams etc do very well.

 

Social aspect, they can chat with others in the chatroom as well as the streamer (if it's that type of stream). Bit like how i used to spend a lot of time on IRC. The game is just a part of it.

How does it work?

 

Does holding the button down immediately snapshot the last 30 seconds to be edited later?

 

Or do you need to hold it down for as long is you want the capture to last?

It creates a clip of the 30 seconds prior to pressing the button. If you create a second clip less than 30 seconds after the first, the latter will only contain footage from the moment the first clip ended.

I hope the other games get updated to support it - I busted a sweeeeeeet move in Mario + Rabbids this morning on the train and was disappointed that I couldn't bore everyone with it on facebook or twitter.
