My worry is that it’s a bit of a glut just now... I just can’t afford either the money or time to play all the great games on Switch I want to...

and Mario comes out in two weeks.

This,

I want both Fire emblem and mario and have no idea which to choose :( Sadly I can't afford both atm...

I'm probably the only person on the planet that would actually quite like to see Lost Reavers on Switch. It was a bit shit in many places, but I had a lot of dumb fun with it and would probably get even more if I could carry it around and do the odd mission here and there on the go.

I'm not right, I know that.

I saw the joy con battery packs for £29.99 in Game yesterday (same price in the Nintendo store, too) and then checked Amazon, where they're £16.17. So I ordered a pair. Obviously, the added battery is basically pointless for me (or anyone, really) but it will be nice to see what the extra weight does for Arms and Odyssey.

I'll have some of this. Reminds me of simpler times when I didn't have a care in the world.

A love letter to both the Game Boy pixel art style and old school platformers. In story mode you play as the titular octopus hero that has over 40 different power ups to find, and you are able to spit ink to turn enemies into platforms on your quest to save kidnapped humans hidden across the world map. In addition, there is a planned local co-op mode and a competitive, semi-randomly generated 'runner' mode coming sometime after the initial release.

They are ok!

If you like the idea of holding chunkier controllers (and heavier if you put the batteries in) then you will like these. If you do not like the idea then there is nothing here for you.

Oceanhorn demo is up: https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/Oceanhorn-Monster-of-Uncharted-Seas-1237655.html

LOADS of good games out today too, from Nintendolife:

Quote

Wulverblade (Fully Illustrated, €16.99 / £14.99) – The beat ‘em up genre isn’t as popular as it once was, but this intriguing release does an excellent job of reminding us of its merits. Rooted in British history and packed full of passion, it’s a brutally tough game but one we gave a hearty recommendation in our Wulverblade review.

The Flame in the Flood (The Molasses Flood, €14.99 / £14.99) – Created by a team of former ‘AAA’ developers, this arrives on Switch as the Complete Edition. An intriguing ‘roguelite’ survival game, you travel along the river and alight at various towns and buildings to seek gear and vital supplies. We’ll bring you a review soon, but in the meantime here’s an interview with the game’s designer.

Yono and the Celestial Elephants (Plug In Digital, €14.99 / £12.99) – A rather charming adventure game in which a plucky elephant explores, tackles puzzles and even gets into a bit of combat. Introduced in the most recent Nindies Showcase it’s undoubtedly appealing, but we’ll see whether it’s worth a purchase in our upcoming review.

Unbox: Newbie's Adventure (Merge Games, €26.99 / £22.49 until 18th October, then €29.99 / £24.99) - Also coming to retail in November, this is a physics-based 3D platformer aims to encourage reminiscing over the genre's golden era while introducing its own ideas. In some ways it succeeds but there are some flaws; we gave it a light recommendation in our Unbox: Newbie's Adventure review.

Neon Chrome (10Tons, €14.99 / £12.99) – A ‘top-down Cyberpunk shooter, this looks big on action and supports co-op for up to four players if you want to tackle it with a buddy. It has procedurally generated stages on offer; our review will be with you later today.

Squareboy vs Bullies: Arena Edition (Ratalaika Games, €4.99 / £4.49) – A beat ‘em up that was once on mobile, you can brawl alone or with a friend to beat up wannabe tormentors. A reasonable game, albeit one perhaps lacking a little overall, we gave it a modest recommendation in our review.

The King of Fighters '95 (HAMSTER, €6.99 / £6.29) – Another ASA release, in this case continuing our run of KoF titles. This second game in the series brings a rather welcome option that would go to become a series staple: You are not confined to pre-determined teams, so you can pick any characters from the roster to make your own dream trio. That said, its arguably superior successor is already available.

I think its finally time to get a switch, but sadly can't find any good deals anywhere. its still full price. What are the chances of there being a deal in the next few weeks?

I'd say pretty much nil. Between Mario and Christmas, it's going to be pretty popular and most consoles don't get a a discount on their first Christmas.

If you are a new customer, and can stand a bit of fuckery, you can get the Grey one for £251 + 3.99 postage from very.co.uk, that's what I just did. If you don't fancy any of the bundles I think that's as cheap as its been so far. http://www.very.co.uk/nintendo-switch-grey-console/1600134960.prd

Enter LXJGR at the checkout by 13/11/17. 10% off electrical and 20% off all the other departments.

Somehow when I tried to do it I never saw a way to enter the code (I imagine because I'm a doofus) and the order was made and immediately uncancellable (it says you can refuse delivery to cancel it though). My heart sank, to be honest. Expected to have a long time on hold and an argument the next day. Anyway, rang them up (freephone) and they retrospectively applied the 20%, it was all very easy. I did have to point out it was a games department not electricals thing (ie 20% not 10%) to the operator but it was very friendly. Then all I had to do was to remember to pay it all off before the astronomical interest rate kicks in. Which I have done.
