Yeah, I'm glad that nonsense didn't carry on. It looks like other less greedy types have thankfully upset that precedent at least when it comes to digital games.

I reckon they’ve earned a lot less money than they would have, due to this greed.

Picked FIFA 18 up. Absolute dog shit! Hahaha. Not fit to lace the boots of the mighty PES. Also doesn't help that the game appears to be broken. Only managed to get 1 game online in Ultimate Team mode after hrs of trying. I just get "no opponents available", "connection to your opponent has been lost", "opponent has left" etc when the game searches for a match.......or it just totally hangs requiring a reboot. :/ Awesome! Hahaha.

Just for the record I've been playing ultimate team regularly without any issue since launch day.

But yes, Pes port would be nice.

Same. Never had to wait more than a few seconds for a game and no disconnects. A couple of laggie games but that’s because I’m back to using virgin wifi

Weird, it seems your Axiom Verge download hasn’t started yet? Maybe try downloading it manually.

Already own it on PS4/Vita, but will inevitably purchase it again on Switch at some point. I'm drowning in games at the moment, though.

Wolfenstein 2

No More Heroes - Travis Strikes Again

Fire Emblem

Dragon Quest Builders

And a whole lot more not announced yet.

A lot of the Switch games released this year have been announced and released in a very short time span. I can imagine we'll get a couple of big announcements for next year in a Direct in early January.

See, £14.99 for Axiom Verge and £10.99 for Stardew. Perfectly acceptable prices for indie games ported from other platforms.

Binding of Isaac is like, what, 36 quid? lol.

Seeing the Switch price actually made me buy it on PC.

Wasn’t it priced so high because it had a physical release and eshop prices had to be the same or something?

No, its because it's the complete version with all the DLC. It's the same price for the PC version. Besides which, I paid £28 on release for it and so far its been worth every penny.

Never Stop Sneakin', the new game from the guy who made Dust: An Elysian Tale.

Switch exclusive for now.

I didn't like Dust much, and while I'm down with the idea of emulating the visuals of PS1 Metal Gear, this looks pretty ugly. Humour seems a bit naff, too, but we'll see how it turns out.

I agree, it’s especially suited to the switch, I always play it when I’ve five minutes to kill.

So is the black screen requiring a hard reset a Golf Story issue?  has anyone experienced that who doesn't own Golf Story?

I don’t have golf story and its happened to me once this week, for the first time, with Picross in sleep mode

I've had this happen a lot lately, most nights I turn it on and the screen is just black and I have to hard reset it. I guess it's been happening more since I got Golf Story, but I doubt it's the cause. Hopefully it's a firmware bug they'll patch.

*Edit* Actually now that I think about it, I may not have been closing Golf Story after quitting back to the menu...Need to test it later.

It looks awful. I get that it's trying to emulate PS1 graphics but those graphics should stay dead forever. Ugliest games library ever.

Metal Gear Solid worked wonders with the gritty palette. Some really good use of texture dithering going on. But yeah, I don't suppose that ever tried to be a pretty game. :)

The prettiest examples I can think of being Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy IX.

I’ve lost count of the games I’ve bought for PS4 and Xbox One that I’ve played for ten minutes and forgotten about. I’ve bought so many games for the Switch over the last few months weeks, but the difference is, I’m actually playing them.

I’ve re-bought Stardew on the Switch because I just don’t play it on the PS4, but I have a lot more patience with games when I can pick up the handheld and get into it straight away. There are plenty more games I’m looking forward to later this year and beyond too, and I’m really not interested in any of the other consoles right now (until Crackdown 3, obvs).

Just cannot express my love for this machine any more. And Mario isn’t even out yet!

I finished Steamworld Dig 2 last night and really enjoyed it after not being too fussed for the first hour or so.

It's pretty compulsive mining and trying to get as many gems and resources as possible. That gameplay loop alone is very addictive but also pretty relaxing. I kept going back to areas I'd done making sure I'd extracted as much as I could from the rock and dirt.

The game throws power ups and upgrades at you at a constant pace too so you're always trying new things out and, again, revisiting old areas to reach bits you couldn't before. Classic Metroid formula in other words.

It's got a really nice chilled vibe to it all, so I was surprised by the downbeat, rather melancholy ending, and it made me think more about my time in this world and how much I'd enjoyed it.

It's a shame there's no NG+ because some of the upgrades  (one in particular)  you get later on are awesome. And it's highly unlikely you'll see everything and try all upgrades in one play through. So doing it again at a higher difficulty and keeping your upgrades would be really cool. Maybe they'll add it later.

Thoroughly recommended though and would love another sequel.

Just purchased Stardew Valley so will be giving that my full attention this evening.

I'm really enjoying the indie selection on Switch. Not only does it bolster their excellent first party line up but it's nice to be able to play slightly shorter games which don't rely on season passes and Micro Transactions, and are fairly inexpensive.

I just stumbled across this blog post I made about the Switch about a year ago, when it was first properly revealed:

https://lofi-gaming.org.uk/blog/2016/10/22/nintendo-switch/

Some choice quotes:

Quote

This week, Nintendo finally unveiled the console that until Thursday was known as the Nintendo NX: The Nintendo Switch. It’s a car crash.

Quote

It is all utter nonsense. Nintendo have lost the plot. Although they did provide us all with this:

switchlady.gif

Lip biting confirmed.

The system is absolutely not what I want from a Nintendo console, but that does present a question: what do I want from a Nintendo console?

Quote

Ultimately, it would seem that although I don’t know what I want from Nintendo hardware, Nintendo do, and in the end it’s the games that matter. And the games will be outstanding, because they’re Nintendo games.

I do palm readings too, if anyone is interested.
