Really depends how long you'd expect to play it, best pick up a usb battery pack if you expect to play it longer than 3 hours.

I've got one of these but its probably a bit overkill.

Thank-you for the recommendation. Three hours is plenty for some Mario Kart to break up the journey time, might not be enough for BotW!

Its very easy to switch region - log into the Nintendo website with your Nintendo Network ID and go to setting and change country - but you can't keep an eshop credit balance if you do so.

I have two profiles on my Switch - a main UK one and another one that I switch between regions on depending on which one has the best price - you just load the shop with the other profile

Do the two profiles you have on the Switch have different Nintendo Network IDs?

And one more question.

If if I bring it out of sleep, and it just shows a black screen, where it’s clearly on but not showing anything, how much should I panic?

Current panic level 8 out of 10.

Edit: Fixed. It finished downloaded golf story, went mental, and needed a forced restart. Had to start my download afresh though!

Since we’re talking profiles — if I have a Japanese profile set up, will the splash screen on wake (before I press a button three times) always show Japanese stuff on the Featured News panel?

Not if you turn it off:

Not fully a switch question as there is nothing to buy but my Nintendo coins, if you buy a game etc is it a code I can use on my daughters wii u or 3ds or tied to my account?

The themes you buy with platinum coins are, but I don't know about games with gold coins. Interested to know for exactly the same reason.

It seems to let me "buy" Wii U games I already have on my account so I assume it's a code?

Argh, who designed this device?

So this even I purchase my first game finally, Golf Story. Anyway, my tablet has been sitting in the dock for ages. My joycons have been placed in that weird thing that I can't explain, you know that weird pointless thing to stick the two joycons together whilst the tablet is docked. Go pick it up and it's saying I have low batteries? Even though I've hardly used the things. So what's going on here? Do people normally attached the joycons to the tablet when docking? I mean seriously, what am I supposed to do here? Take the tablet out and attach the joycons even though I want to play on the tv? So I'm forced to play on the tablet with the screen blaring in my face whilst playing the game on the tv. Actually, I don't even know if the joycons would work like that because they wouldn't be getting power? So I have to attach the joycons to the docket tablet and wait a hour or so?

THANKFULLY I have the pro controller so can just use that but I'm super curious what those without another controller do? What an utterly confusing device this is.

edit : I nearly forgot!! The rotation thing!! Every time I play (with joycons in the weird thing) the buttons are all mapped wrong because it thinks I'm using the joycons horizontally? So I have to tell it every time that I'm playing it vertically! I mean surely they could write a bit of code to say 'If cons are in the weird thing then there is no humane way anyone is playing it horizontally so switch to vertical. Or hell, how about just switch mode depending on angle held? It's a motion controller, it should be able to tell if it's being held vertically or horizontally?

Bonkers

I ended up buying a 3ds game and it was a code that worked fine on daughters 3ds.

This console...

So I take the Switch to the bedroom for the first time. Playing a game and I keep hearing this weird noise outside, every time my switch tablet vibrates my pro controller in the other room was vibrating on a table. Why would a controller that isn’t be used also vibrate? Pressed a button on the controller near the orange light on the top, that stopped it. So next time I use that controller I will have to remember to turn it on, then also remember to turn it off if I take the tablet to bed....

When you're not using the Joycon, connect them to the Switch or a dedicated charger. The grip is for folk who want to use something like a Pro controller without buying one. The Joycon probably didn't have a full charge when you bought them.

You can also disconnect controllers from the Switch itself on the home screen.
