Nintendo Switch

There's rumours of the Switch Netflix app being ready to go. Just needs Nintendo sign off.

I initially thought that's great!....But I do like how "pure" the Switch is as a gaming device. Not sure I really want my Netflix List of Indecision and Guilt weighing down my Switch time.

I can see why Netflix want to do it - they have built a brand on having their app on every system imaginable and they have had their app on other Nintendo devices in the past.

I would not want it on my Switch though. Likewise, it feels like it should be a pure gaming device and the dashboard is not really the best place for apps and games to sit alongside each other. Also, it may pave the way for more apps to be released for the Switch. I already carry a smartphone and have a tablet with me at home. I'm not sure that I would ever want to open an app on the Switch (unless it was a specific Nintendo app which added value to a game or the system overall).

I wouldn't mind a web browser. Was always a good feature of the WiiU to be able to quickly check where the fuck to go next in Metroid or something and then jump back into the game.

But yeah, phone in the pocket so it's not essential (just easy to get distracted by all the other shite on a phone once you unlock it)

The Nintendo eshop is absolutely useless. I wanted to get the Octopath demo. I searched Octopath, but got no results. I searched demo, and only got seven results, none of which were for Octopath. I manually looked in the shop and couldn't see it until I looked in the 'coming soon' section.

You can avoid all of this trauma by not downloading the Netflix app on Nintendo Switch if it ever becomes available.
