  • I was expecting to need a pro controller, but I'm finding the joy-con grips to be very comfortable.

Glad to finally hear others come out on this - I get the love for the pro controller, but I think the Joy-Cons in the grip that come with the system are perfectly fine. I bought another set of joy-cons and another grip in preference to a pro controller - feels decent enough and gives me coverage for up to four people in the process.

I'd fully recommend that anyone at least tries out the standard out-of-the-box grip before they pony up for a pro controller.

This, I do have the hori pad as well which I think I prefer very margianally. That said if I was sat playing using just the joycons and grip for a few hours I don't think it would bother me at all :)

Did anyone buy NeuroVoider? Looks like fun and only £10 on the South African store.

I did, and I've been hopelessly addicted to it ever since. Ticks all the right boxes for me - really accessible Rogue-Lite gameplay keeps me coming back again and again. Haven't completed a run yet, but still loving it.

The Joycons in the grip are ok, but I've got big, slightly numb hands (Carpal Tunnel) and the sticks aren't the most responsive. The Pro Controller is probably the best console controller I've ever used. I was extremely cynical about it before I tried it. I do flip between the two though, depending on the situation.

I bought a Switch on Saturday. Bought a Pro Controller on Sunday. The joycon is a woeful bit of kit. My hands were starting to feel sore after just an hour of play with it and trying to play splatoon 2 with those tiny shoulder buttons was just an exercise in frustration. Played a short while with the Pro controller last night and it was so much better to use. I've almost entirely done the last 18 months gaming with an xbox elite controller though and that may have something to do with my instant dislike of the joycon.

Horses for courses - everyone will feel different. Just always want to advocate giving them a go before laying potentially £60 on something that's maybe not needed.

That said, this - "The joycon is a woeful bit of kit" - is just nuts. Those little cons-that-do are amazing ;)

I absolutely agree that it's worth trying the joycons first and that's what I did. We'll have to agree to disagree on the amaze factor of them though! I'll probably still use them for short bursts attached to the tablet but most of my gaming will be in TV mode so the pro will be used a lot more.

Inhave a couple of sets of joycon and the holders but the kids get them if there is any multiplayer going down, pro controller is much better imo and I can’t go back to the pad style joycon setup but 100% fine with them on handheld.

Do you have a pro?
