JPickford
I rarely take mine out of the dock to be honest. I appreciate it when I do though. As a static console I love it for the separate joycons and the fantastic games.

I did sit on the bus with it playing Zelda on the Monday after I bought it just to be awesome like on the adverts but I prefer it on the TV for the few games I have. Zelda on the big screen is something else and I'm scared I'd throw it playing Splatoon as I get a bit competitive playing that sometimes.

Just make sure you dock the Switch first obv. It looks impressive but if I was going to bother with a TV version I'd get it on my Pro.
Yewone
Almost 24 hours on and the fact we are getting a portable Doom is still real! 2017 keeps on delivering!
amorenod
Portability? Meh. What is this bullshit about the correct way to use a Switch? What is great about it is that you have the choice to use it the way you like it. My original plan was to buy one next Christmas for Mario, glue it to the dock and use a Pro pad. However, there's a slight variation to my plan, I'm getting one now to avoid shortages, then wait for Mario. Until then, it's just a console with games I already own or can get cheaper elsewhere.

Colonel Panic
I do play mine a lot out of the dock, I don't have a dedicated gaming TV so I need to share with my girlfriend who loves hateful home improvement and cooking shows. I have bought an adapter so I can connect my switch to my monitor in the office but handheld mode is the fucking business! I haven't gathered percentage docked vs undocked statistics though. Captain Kelsten
I don't play my switch half as much as I should, or even half as much as I could. My (still relatively) new job is a 20-30 min train ride. Perfect switch time, right? But I never bring it. The evenings when it's my turn to put my son to bed and I sit on the floor until he falls asleep? More perfect switch time, but I never take it upstairs with me! I need to play it far more. Could be, but based on the usage of my DS, PSP, 3DS, Vita and Wii U pad, I'm sceptic. I drive to my job, so no option there, which leaves the loo (not a chance) and the bed, but I usually fall asleep quite fast.

Gotters
exactly, depends on definition of 'better' instant turn on to nab 10-15mins during a half time of a game, sitting next to me whilst I work from home, sleep mode instant wake up - all these things matter more to me than 4k 60fps etc. better isn't about technical improvements, its about accessibility to using the software. I would literally never play Kingdom New Lands on an Xbox or PS4

I mean I'll join the love-in and vote you up if that's what you're after, but there's irrefutable evidence that a switch port of a third party title means "worse, but portable, if that's what you're after". If you're coming from the angle of nearly buying the phone build, then yeah, the switch may well "make it better", but surely that's the exception to the rule. People say steam reviews are like youtube comments but I always find the most upvoted reviews to be helpful. Of course, I'll check youtube videos and try the game myself before deciding but it might be of some help - http://store.steampowered.com/app/471920/PanPan/ You never did tell me which games ran at 10fps and crashed every ten minutes.

It was actually a launch game for Switch and it's been on mobile for ages. If you like rhythm games with lots of Japanese style dance, techno, pop and mellow tunes then it's very good and feels nice. They released it with all the DLC and there are an absolute ton of songs. They keep releasing new stuff as well.

I've been able to plonk on the sofa while my other half watches EastEnders or whatever, we can chit chat and have a normal evening...while at the same time I'm charging around a fully-realised Hyrule. It's a massive QOL changer when your access to the TV is restricted. Edit: Kingdoms: New Lands look really intriguing. Thanks for the heads up. As above, the kind of game I would be downloading on PS+ in a years time that I'll probably pick up.

DC Lemon
Bethesda told Engadget that the Switch port of Doom will have all the updates and DLC released for the original game except for the SnapMap level editor. It's also worth noting that the physical version of the game will only include the single-player campaign on the game card due to size constraints -- to play online multiplayer, users will need to download a free update. Naturally, users that choose digital-only copies will get the whole package in one go. https://www.engadget.com/2017/09/13/doom-2016-nintendo-switch/ Looks like the Micro SD card that came with my Switch is finally due for retirement. rgraves
Clippa - please sell your Switch. Your almost desperate quest to find fault and not like it is depressing. I mean your examples above - even a quick look and you'd know that Mr Shifty has now been patched and fixed, and Overcooked is about to have the same treatment. And since when has a title being capped at 30fps been such a terrible thing? It's not that people don't want to hear bad things, it's not that Switch is perfect by any means, it's that you seem intent on just nitpicking on really odd things and then ramming them down our throats over and over and over again. Of course a Switch title is not going to hold up to a PS4/XBO title graphically, nobody (apart from maybe Digital Foundry who for some reason keep making comparisons and pointing it out like it's some kind of shock) is expecting that - that doesn't make all the games 'irrefutably worse' though. If I can get a game that looks almost as good that I can play literally anywhere, that's better in my book. That's different to what the other two platforms are offering.
Gotters
some of the nitpicking (not just by one person by the way) reminds me of my friend who is super into HD music and digital audio - he pays a fortune for headphones, runs A&K digital players that he puts thru mini amps etc and is always testing new cables out and ebaying his kit to 'upgrade' thing is his hobby isn't listening to music, its buying kit - he always listens to the same dozen albums that got HD releases trying to see if they sound different. I think the Switch irritates those types as its about gaming for the fun of gaming, not geometry processing power or pixel/fps counting (though Nintendo does like a bit of 60fps)
