- Learnt it only has 25GB capacity, wtf. So you can only download about 2-3 AAA games on it?

- Turned off, can't imagine using it again until Mario. Beside that there is no other game on the horizon that interests me.

 

I know, it's not for people like me etc. 

 

 

 

I also got my Switch today.

 

- Love the hardware. Everything feels great, and slotting it into the dock to flip over to the TV seamlessly is almost a revelation. I previously thought the on-the-go/on-the-tv thing was a bit of a gimmick, but found myself doing it naturally over the course of the night.

- No problem setting it up. I am super-paranoid about docking it though, especially since it feels quite loose in the dock. Will need a screen protector.

- I did find the controller situation to be very confusing. We got stuck in horizontal mode playing Mario Kart and couldn't figure out how to get back. Even the controller registration screen was oddly cryptic. Figured it out eventually though.

- Downloaded all the demos, played Snipperclips with the missus and we both loved it. Got stuck for ages on the level where everyone probably gets stuck, and figuring it out was such a good feeling. Definite buy.

- Love the fluidity of the eShop compared to other Nintendo offerings. In fact, the whole thing seems a lot slicker, streamlined and grown up, but still had character. The games only focus feels right.

- I'm a physical media whore, so will mostly likely buy cartridges and save the SD card space for indie games. Plus, she's getting one next week as well, so we'll be able to share the games.

- Played Zelda all night. Can't wait to play Zelda all night tonight. Watched the Nintendo Direct. Felt oddly excited and enthusiastic. An unfamiliar feeling.

I'm trying to imagine how you were able to do this. I can't envision any scenario that doesn't involve you staring at the dock, then staring at the Switch, then back at the dock. You nervously hold the console over the slot and rotate it a few times, to size up the coupling before your first attempt. Longways? No. Other longways? No. What were those hip cats in the advert doing?! They made this look so easy! "Calm down, Capwn," you say to yourself, "my partner's watching me, I mustn't fuck this up." With sweat pouring from your brow you realise you've been turning this thing over now for a full five minutes, like some kind of deviant Japanese Rubik's Cube, and with a nervous laugh you slam it in the slot. You nearly have a heart attack as you're hammering the input switch on your remote control but the TV's having none of it. You risk a sideways glance at her, you told her this would be a laugh, we'd play a game together, finally we'd connect over that scissors game but HOW DO I MAKE THIS WORK. You're not sure you're talking about the Switch, or your relationship. In your despair you turn away in shame, your self-confidence crushed, and look to the box for answers. You've put it in backwards.

It was dark, I couldn't see the Switch logo on one of the sides of the Dock

You completely misunderstand the point. 

 

It's not the fact they're cut down. 

 

It's the fact they're even possible. 

 

That's why the Switch is genius in handheld form. 

 

Your recent escapade with the console reminds me of this one time when my father in law had the menu for the kill Bill dvd playing for two hours, thinking it was the most confusing, repetitive film he'd ever seen. He is 70, mind.

To you maybe. To the rest of us they will look awesome.

 

You can join the party though. It's not too late for redemption. You can 'see the light'. Just hit that little button to the left....it brings more CPU/GPU power to the party...

Might be idealised footage (though I'm unsure about the company reputation in that regard), but it looks the nuts to me.
