Plenty of game in BoTW to last until Mario Odyssey and possibly beyond.

Mario+Rabbids is excellent and worth a purchase if you are after a single player experience.

Fire Emblem Heroes and possibly Xenoblade 2 will hopefully be out by the end of the year too.

Switch seems quite a good purchase especially now. Not sure if the £259.99 deals are still up.

I picked up a Switch yesterday.  I like it!

I picked up MK8 and Zelda which I hope to get around too at some point and as I have a PS4 / PC I am only really interested in exclusives and possibly some indie stuff.

Anything I need to know? What's the deal with the controllers? They seem OK but I hear you can get some pro controller?  Is anything compatible from the Wii days?

Don't think any wii stuff works. Wii U pro pad can work using a USB mayflash adapter - although this also allows ps4 pads etc to work.

The Pro controller is pretty nice, but i don't have a massive problem (yet) with the joycons. It would be nice to have a decent dpad though.

Yeah I have heard rumblings that the Direct will focus on several 3rd party games. I still expect a chunk on Mario Odyssey, Zelda dlc etc but i don't expect to see a mass amount of Nintendo stuff ie Smash Bros reveal, Mario Maker.

Still waiting on your rumblings of CoD hitting Switch and your latest flight of fancy, Sea of Thieves hitting Switch to be confirmed. ;)

Got mine for around £260 (they retail around £320 here in the UAE) thanks to mates rates.

Thank-you for the tips, will check them out. And pick up a Pro controller. If BotW is as good as it looks, and then Odyssey delivers on its promise, that's going to be a pretty good experience for the rest of the year. Anything else will be a bonus!

Thimbleweed Park is out on the Switch next Thursday!

Glad I waited :)

Can we use a joy-con like a wii remote? I

imagine that would work better than a standard controller in this.

I held off on PS4, I've fancied it since the PC release :)

I was enjoying the POT demo a lot. I chose Primrose, of course. Who wouldn't? Everything was great, including (finally) some impressive use of HD Rumble. The game itself had me hooked. Square doing what it does best. English voices not so good but thats part of the Square package.

Then I lost the boss fight and it made me go back through a cutscene with lengthy dialogue (which felt long enough the first time) with no apparent way to skip it on repeat (bashing every button didn't work) and my buzz kinda died...

Got my switch today, I swear I'm probably the worst Switch user ever.

- Disappointed with the size of the screen, really can't imagine playing on this ever unless it's for traveling (which I rarely do).

- Couldn't get it to come on the tv, realized I was putting it in the wrong way round!

- The dock thing feels really cheap and tacky

- Got it working, downloaded snipperclips and tried playing with my partner. One of the most challenging puzzles was working out the tiny controllers. Using them sideways feels super awkward and uncomfortable. Finally got it working, got through the tutorials but then it suddenly goes from 0-100 in difficulty by introducing balloons with no explanation at all of what to do. Gave up after 15mins.

- Looked online for other games, went through them all and couldn't find anything.

- Was trying to find apps, there aren't any

- Learnt it only has 25GB capacity, wtf. So you can only download about 2-3 AAA games on it?

- Turned off, can't imagine using it again until Mario. Beside that there is no other game on the horizon that interests me.

I know, it's not for people like me etc.

Have you ever used video game hardware before, or is this a first?

My wife rinsed Snipperclips with me just fine and she hates video games, so is naturally terrible at them. Why not try cutting your characters into sharp points so you can pop the balloons? Actually, no, forgot it - each puzzle is something new and inventive so you'd be back here complaining at difficulty after each and every single one. You can't expect them to give you a guide for each puzzle.

I totally made myself sharp and jumped into a balloon, nothing happened? I bet you have to make yourself a particular type of sharp shape...
