Oh I know not everyone is going to love it. It's just that I do sooooo much. It's not like any other multiplayer game really, very unique. I've never got on with CoD etc, but Splatoon has me by the tentacles.

The single player is actually pretty good as well JP - just maybe a bit short (about 5-6 hours or so).

I totally see your point though - I'm exactly the same with ARMS. Doesn't ring my bells at all.

I thought the single player on the first Splatoon was better. The game isn't really a single player game though so if multi isn't your thing I wouldn't recommend it.

But I do love multiplayer. Only MW2's Domination mode has ever come close to the hours I've sank on the first Splatoon's Turf War.

What makes you think you'll never play disconnected from the TV, out of curiosity?

- My partner doesn't watch tv (we don't even have tv service), she'll always watch stuff on her laptop/tablets unless watching something with me on Netflix etc.

- We don't have kids.

- Small apartment. I suppose the only handheld option is the bedroom, not sure how I'd feel about playing games in bed. Could be useful in certain situations.

Right now on Amazon, the Switch (neon) in Canada is selling for $518 (325 quid). What is tempting though is that Amazon seem to have a offer for Prime members where you get a gray Switch (My preference) for $399 (243 quid) which seems too good to be true. No idea if that's a short or long term deal? So I'm wondering if I should be doing this asap before they pull that offer.

Not everyone likes multiplayer games.   Splatoon 2 and Arms represent a bit of gap in the release schedule for me.

I didn't expect to like Splatoon 2 any where as much as I do. I've got very little interest in online multiplayer but I love it whenever I get the chance to play it online.

Received today, doesn't work as it doesn't switch over to the tv output. I do have it going through an HDMI splitter, wonder if that is the issue. Is yours directly into the tv @Jimmyzilla?

Will try it on another set later.

I've ordered one of the M002 models - will report back once it arrives and I've had reason to use it. FYI, my TV does weird things with Switch already - if I'm playing, undock, then dock again it refuses to show a picture (same if I power the Switch off then on again for an update actually) - I have to switch to another input, then back to Switch to get a picture back. Basically, if the signal goes it won't return again. It's quite strange.

I played the first one for a bit.  It's not for me.  Didn't much like the single player either.   Not a comment on the quality of the game - it's clearly brilliant.  It's just not something I enjoy much.  I find the stress of multi-player competitive games unpleasant.   I'm loving Mario + Rabbids where I can take my time and not get flustered.

Exactly the same as me.  I want to love Splatoon 2 and I can definitely see the appeal, I just don't think multiplayer games are for me, I prefer a slower pace.

Yes. :)

Depends which mode you play. Turf War, you can definitely have a lot of fun without leet skillz. Ranked (Rainmaker, Splat Zones and Tower Control) is more akin to other online team FPS with your ability to splat and avoid being splatted tested.

Do you need to be super coordinated and have the reactions if a ninja to play Splatoon? That's what puts me off competitive online shooters these days. I end up getting stressed and angry.

No - it's much less 'twitch' than a lot of other online shooters - and certainly in stuff like Turf War you can go much more at your own pace. I mean really, you can technically be a brilliant player and never, ever, bother getting involved in killing other players as such. That's not the aim of the game, and actually some people get hung up on that instead of what they should be doing!

That said, it does get competitive and I've certainly kicked a few imaginary cats when I've been ambushed by a ninja roller
