I've just checked on the eshop and Binding of Isaac is going to be £35.99. It's a decent game but it's also a few years old now and I'm perplexed at that price. This was a game given free with PS+ over two years ago.

If I'm right, it does come with 2 or 3 expansions which weren't in the PSPlus version. It seems expensive, but the complete package is pretty much equivalent to the Steam price.

I agree with your sentiment, although apart from Nintendo first party titles (which are what we bought the system for) have there been any third party big hitters on the scene, not just announced for future release?

It seems like Ubisoft are on board in a big way. Hopefully by Christmas this fear will be allayed, and is in no way meant to denigrate the, I feel very successful, push by Nintendo to get indie titles out through the eShop, of which there have been both quantity and quality.

Are we getting to the point now where something not being announced for Switch will be news? There's something new announced pretty much every single day, and I've never been so glad to be an early adopter!

Sorry, the above was in response to this.

Perhaps they could have offered the expansions separately. I mean it was  £11.99 on release for PS4, so that's a massive hike for tacking on some DLC.

I see a better argument for the physical release costing more and being sold as the 'definitive version' or whatever, but three times the price of the PSN version for the digital version seems  unreasonably high.

I was looking forward to it but considering I already have the game on PS4 and Vita I can't justify the price. Maybe for people new to the game, but I can see a lot of people put off by spending that much on an indie game.

I am mostly talking about indie stuff, to be fair. You're right, all the usual PS4 and Xbox exclusives are remaining exclusive to their platforms, but there are definitely signs that the big boys want a slice of the Switch pie. I suppose it just feels like everything is possible at the moment, and that we can expect a slew of AAA titles from the last few years to be ported.

Seems the apparently excellent Oxenfree is heading to Switch this October, too. Hard to keep up with all these announcements!

That's great news for Switch owners as it looks like a game that will play really nicely on it.

Quick heads up for those that have a Xbox one though that it's on games on gold this month.

I can't stop watching these trailers. These games can't come soon enough!

Me either and I think I've got it.

There's just such a sense of joy and colour about virtually all these games.  They're all just so happy compared to something like a Horizon or Call of Duty.

And don't get me wrong, I fucking LOVED Horizon but for a console that will spend a good deal of its life being played lounging on the sofa in front of crap TV or in bed say, that's just a really attractive thing that's different to almost everything else, really even including existing handhelds.

If an indie game comes to retail then I think Nintendo will only allow that as the default price on the eShop.

Being cartridge based is probably going to make that quite pricey.

And if the market is willing to support those prices, Nintendo will keep charging them.  No reason for them not to.

But then I don't think Cave Story has a cartridge version, at least here in the UK. I wish it did because at least I'd find more value in it then, same with Isaac. Axiom Verge is £24.99, which whilst more expensive than on PS4 is still more reasonably priced. There's too much variance.
