Indeed. And if it is hard, you can go away and get more CP and stuff to power up.

I've only done a couple of levels so far but can you replay them to grind CP?

Yes, and you have to in order to get all the items!

All this talk of hard games, was thinking does nobody do difficulty levels anymore? I just don't have time for rock hard games anymore, so talk of gonner / tumbleseed / snakepass etc being hard puts me off, it must have some effect on sales. Maybe more trouble incorporating than it is worth. Discuss.

Personally, I'd wack a screen protector on and buy a case. Then play some stuff. If you get on with the joy-cons then all rosy. If you don't, then get a pro controller. Don't buy anything extra controller-wise until you've had chance to work out how you feel about the joy-cons. Personally, I get on just fine with them and will add more joy-cons rather than a pro controller when the time comes.

If it helps, I've got this screen protector on mine - went on easy as anything and you can't tell it's there at all really. Bargain for £3!

And I have this case - cheap at £10 and does everything I need (after a bit of re-arranging the internals), but YMMV:

Aaaand finally - extra storage. Reading up, it looks like Micro SD card; I'd normally go for Sandisk - I guess as big as I can afford. Anything to watch out for (read speed, etc.)?

Something like this? 128GB seems to be a relatively sweet spot for now.

Unless you're going all-digital, you won't need any extra storage for a while.

The Nintendo memory card expert to the rescue, there!

Thanks, deKay.

I'm currently running levels and grabbing every unlockable I can find and then failing to kill the boss and moving onto the next level. At some point I'll have enough grunt to kill one of the fuckers. :)

I've found the fire one the easiest so far, if that helps.

Which one is that? I've done three so far. I've managed to upgrade my damage shield which helps a lot. The last one I did was the mines. That was pretty easy and I was able to complete that one in one go. Grabbed the 300CP from that. Going to run it again and get the SMASH element.

The oil one.

Make getting the double jump a priority, by the way. Makes many levels a lot easier.

I've beaten all the robots - onto spoiler now!

I have the double jump now but towards the end of that section there's a long moving platform section that is just fucking hyper frustrating. Real rage inducing :) It doesn't help that no matter how far I get through it, when I die it puts me right back at the start of the section. It's so easy for one shot to knock you to your death there

Do you know if there's stock of neon joycons anywhere?

I don't think difficulty levels are any less common than they've ever been.

They do tend to be hidden in the options rather than front-and-centre when you start the game, though.

I saw some on the Nintendo website the other day (marked one set per customer), they might still have some.

I really want a second set to play 2 player ARMS properly, but don't think I can justify paying £70 for them...

@Stifler - of course you can. ARMS 2 player will be excellent.

I've not been a regular in this thread for a bit so does anyone have a DIY guide or link to fixing the left joy con myself? With all the horror stories of the fixing turn around I may as well do it.

I've got this one - working perfectly for me so far - although I picked it up for just £32 and the price seems to have crept up a bit now...

Thinking about it, there's a number of different reasons them being less common - even when they're hidden in the options. Many games have "intelligent" difficulty, where it's made easier or harder for you depending how easy you're finding it. Harder tasks, in games like Zelda or Assassin's Creed, are now often optional (unless you're going for 100%). Difficult sections in games can now often be skipped, or you can grind to level up to make them easier.

In the old days, it used to be harder modes meant more enemies, fewer lives, more damage taken, less damage dealt. That sort of thing doesn't really cut it now.

I wish you could take the SD card out without having to reboot the console. Bit of a pain when you've nothing installed on it and all you're doing is transferring screenshots.

So Platinum Games just posted this on their Twitter account....Note the Famicon joycons and white joycon grip! Also the jackets in the first game said W100, so might even be teasing a sequel.

I'll buy them all even though I never really played them on my Wii.

Anybody capable of modelling stuff for 3D printing? I'd like to take mine apart to fix the damaged little latch that holds the joycon onto the Switch.

Nintendo keep e-mailing me updates about my "Nintendo Switch" [console is the implication] repair (it's arrived, it's been looked at etc).

I sent them Joy-cons.

It doesn't inspire much confidence :(

I get the same emails about my left joycon, it's obviously just a canned response they aren't modifying.

It's been over a week since I sent mine and all I've received is an email stating they've received it.

When mine got lost they asked me on the phone if I'd sent in the whole machine. I suspect I could have said yes and (eventually) got a free switch back off them. They really haven't got a clue.

Conversely, I had my Joycon's in and fixed in around a week, with them giving me updates via text message, email and nintendoservicecentre.co.uk

So all in all was a good experience. Apparently mine were "Serviced and repair with a new serial number" whatever that means.

Replaced rather then repaired it sounds like. Why would they change the serial number unless they were changing the entire thing.

My Switch's SD slot doesn't work.  I posted earlier about the console rebooting because I had removed the SD card (when I hadn't); now it fails to recognise a card in there.

Of course, sending it off for repair is the obvious thing to do, but I have hours of progress in Zelda and full unlocks in MK8D, as well as Snipperclips and other game saves.  I don't trust them to keep them safe - when I had to get my Wii U repaired, everything was deleted (but that was just after 2 days of use).  The sooner save backups arrive, the better.
