Question for Rllmuk..... I didn't bother with "Arms" as I found the free demo laggy and a bit uncontrollable .... should I?

It takes a bit of practice but it's also highly addictive once it clicks. It's my personal favourite Switch game so far. I also reckon it has the best motion controls of any title to date.

We need to get some matches going from people on here, it's waaaay better with people you know.

The new cooking / chef game is fucking Amazing.

first class multiplayer / 10

Overcooked?

I've watched some gameplay videos of that and I get so stressed just watching others play. Don't think I could cope playing it.

Does Overcooked have a decent single player mode or is it really best as a multiplayer?

single player isn't a lot of fun - it exists but isn't very good.

multiplayer is where this is at.

the controls are very simple, move, 1 button to pick up/put down and one to chop

concepts are quite simple, it shows you a little pic of the dish you need to make, and what 2-3 items go into it

3 starring may be another thing but this game is quite fun even in failing

Might be worth a go then - ta!

Overcooked is superb. After the initial levels it becomes just the right side of stressful, frantic fun. But it does need more than one player because, whilst you can play solo, you will struggle to get more than a single star on most levels and some of the later ones might even be next to impossible if playing alone. It's also local multiplayer only, which is worth bearing in mind.

If, having said all that, you can play it with friends/family, then it's a smashing little game and well worth a go.

Is Death Squared any good? I'm getting Snipperclips vibes from the reviews.

I played this and Overcooked in 2P co-op on a 3 hour coach ride at the weekend and Overcooked was far better received.

Death2 is a lot like Snipperclips but doesn't have quite enough charm and also controls just as loosely despite movement needing to be more precise. At least as far as 10 levels in, there was only one instance where the rules of the level didn't seem clear and the result was achieved through fudging.

Not bad by any stretch but also lacking a multiplayer x factor.

Yip, been playing Overcooked with the missus, she loves it, as I type all I am hearing is 'lets play some more', it is good laugh but also stressful :o.

Right am being summoned back to the kitchen. I feel like I am working 2 jobs at the min.

Overcooked is great, me and the wife have been playing it loads. It's just the right side of difficult so that you get some hilarious cock-ups without being overly frustrating. In terms of performance it's fine, the framerate is probably just short of 30 fps but it's steady so it doesn't matter too much. 60fps would be nicer, but that's Unity for you...

Just ordered my switch with Mario kart and pre order for odyssey for under £300 can't wait to get playing emoji3.png

Mind me asking where that was from?

Been wanting to grab one for a while now yet everywhere's still out of them still and I'm cautious about buying used for fear of dead pixels / scratched screens and joy cons that don't work properly / need sending back to Nintendo.

So I have owned this console since launch way back in March.

It arrived on the Friday and I had to be on a plane to Sydney first thing the next morning. It was a blessing and a curse...That flight is usually so loooonnnggg... but it flew by (!). Zelda had me utterly transfixed for the entire journey - both there and coming back. And as someone that has never really got into Elder Scrolls - I became totally obsessed with exploring and mastering it. I have NEVER put as many hours into a game as I did that one. All told, 160 of them, and I'm still playing... And as many have said the jump to having a full, uncompromised game with you where ever you are... completely changed the way I play. Giving me gaming time back that would have been impossible before.

The downside to this, is I figured that would be it. The Switch would be a one game system for a very long time. Maybe always.

Then Mario Kart launched and despite owning the Wii U version - I was utterly addicted all over again. It gets everything sooo right. And my boys are the perfect age to join in.

And now Splatoon (which never appealed to me at all). I dont like online shooters and the art style turned me off from what I saw on the Wii U. How wrong I was though - its totally sublime and is the first game to show me the huge appeal of online warfare. I literally can't stop playing - and am always "one more go" 'ing it. It taken up every night for the last week.

In summary I have spent more time playing the switch this year than for the duration of owning both the Xbox One and PS4 combined. It nails everything for me as a gamer - from its portability to its power. I love the little thing in a way I never have previous consoles.. And my kids love it too...

Question for Rllmuk..... I didn't bother with "Arms" as I found the free demo laggy and a bit uncontrollable .... should I?

Great post. I would say not to bother with Arms. It's not a patch on Zelda, MK or Splatoon and likely will not get played.

I bought SF2 and Binding of Isaac at the beginning of June, barely played them and with how good Splatoon has turned out I doubt I ever will.

Arms is really good, there's definitely a learning curve and I think it's better with normal controls, but when you get into it it's pretty amazing. That said, I haven't played it since I got Splatoon 2 and probably won't for a while. I got a good 25 hours out of it though so hardly money wasted.

I bought Arms on cart as I didnt think it was for me as I've not been into fighters in years. I had fun but its clearly a game of skill and I don't have time to learn the game enough to enjoy it - its clearly a great game but with Splatoon 2, Zelda and all the stuff on PS4 I'm playing I knew it wouldn't get a look in.

I think its worth a go, get the cart cheap and trade in will cost you nothing - I lost under £2!

Please help Rllmuk. Should I or shouldn't I buy a switch to go on holiday with?

I'll be going with the Mrs, my best friend and his wife and 9 year old daughter, they have a Switch with Zelda, Arms, Bomberman, Mario Kart and 12 switch.

Me and the Mrs already have a Wii U with Zelda which we've loved and nearly finished.

What are the best multiplayer games there for us to play together as they'll be opportunity for 4 of us to gather round and enjoy some evening play time whilst away?

Advice needed please.

I need to get something new to play on my Switch, and I'm torn between Splatoon and Cave Story.

I like the look of Splatoon but have little to no interest in online play. Would mostly be buying it for single player and the odd dabble online, but it's really not my bag. I play Switch petty much exclusively on handheld. Does Splatoon play well like this? Or would I get destroyed online by people using controllers.

Or do I save myself about 23 quid and buy Cave Story, which although overpriced in itself, I've never played before but I imagine offers a more complete single player experience.

My "wait and hope every game comes to the Switch" strategy is paying off

Well that's me not picking it up until then, then!
