As someone completely new to a Splatoon game, I thought the splatfest was ok, but figured worth a punt anyway given all the love for the game in this thread.

The good thing about buying physical is that if I don't like it, can probably sell it on without much loss.

I'll be checking out the reviews before taking the plunge with this. Didn't get chance to try it out in any of the tests but doing the tutorial bit the motion controls did my head in.

Maybe I'll call Nintendo again and see how they're getting on with handling my complaint and giving me £70 of eShop credit...

I loved splatoon 1 and I'm sure splatoon 2 will be better. But given the amount of hours I've already stuck into the multiplayer I'm reticent to get Splatoon 2 unless there's a decent length multiplayer.

Potentially a stupid question but if I wanted to charge up the Switch whilst still playing in handheld mode it is simply a case of buying one of these USB cables and plugging it to a USB plug?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker-Pull-up-Resistor-Nintendo-ChromeBook/dp/B011995DDO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1500381478&sr=8-2&keywords=switch+charger

I've got the power cable that came with it plugged in to the dock and it'd just be a massive pain to unplug it every time it runs out of battery when I want to keep playing!

I only really keep checking this thread to see if your joycons have been sorted.

Joy-con Uodate!

Spoke to them again today, no info about my replacements. As for my complaint it might need to have been in writing to head office and not via email like thy told me, but they're not sure.

Spoke to a supervisor, he let slip that there was a list of people waiting for replacements and that I wasn't on it. "Yours are lost not a repair so there is a difference". Another choice quite "The people on the list have been waiting a long time". I lost it a bit here I have to admit. They offered me the £15 eShop credit again and the manager said he might be able to get it up to £30.

I made him promise to call me back today with an update on my joy-con & complaint and he said he would by 5pm. Who thinks I'll get a call this afternoon?

I still don't get the motion control hate. Gyro-assisted aiming is a thing of beauty!

Yep, it's so good in zelda I often forget to even use the right stick once I'm aiming!  I've caught myself spinning on the spot trying to track the wolves

You were all correct, no call.

HOWEVER:

It looks like they've created a new case and it is progressing quickly. I've also had emails saying the engineers are repairing my Switch right now.

I guess I'll find out more when I call them tomorrow to ask where the fuck my phone call is.

What was Galaxy 2 to Galaxy?

How different is each yearly iteration of COD?

I don't understand the narrative people are pushing round for this game. Rllmuk forum seems largely indifferent.

I personally don't want them to mess with the formula too much. It's almost perfect as it is.

Exactly, and it had a limited audience. The graphics here are improved, it's portable, there's horde mode, 75% new maps, and more new ones announced, weekly/fortnightly DLC for a year, a new campaign, new special attacks, new weapons, Splatfests for two years. It's a sequel.

Any word about whether the single-player mode has been expanded upon?

Its substantially longer and equally if not more inventive according to Eurogamer but still only about 6-10 hours so more an hors d'oeuvre than the main course (which is the multiplayer ultimately).

Hmm, a positive development, but probably not enough to convince me to buy the game* to be honest. Was hoping for something that was more like a 3D Mario game, but with ink-squirting instead of jumping on heads.

* well, certainly not at current prices.

Yeah, a shame in some ways because there is potential for a seriously good single player game here if they were so inclined - I loved the single player mode of the first, loads of ideas, well executed and a magnificent final boss - just far far far too short.

But then again I love the online game too, so add an improved single player and a hoard mode with more of that and its an instant purchase for me.

That's pretty much exactly what it is. Just a relatively short one.

IT'S ALMOST HERE :omg:
