Zelda review embargo lifts at 11am tomorrow and the hype train will be back in full force. We also have a full days worth of people complaining that their order hasn't dispatched yet. Pace yourselves, for tomorrow will be a big one.

The PS4 had 10 years to launch with genre defying games but it's fine because a game that was grounded in fps mechanics from 10 years ago was shiny and looked good!?!?

 

I mean I'm not giving the Switch a free pass here and it would be great if it had a broader selection of games from other publishers but the PS4 had a terrible launch lineup and indeed first year but we all rejoiced because it was new and we were bored of MS fucking up the 360.

 

Fucking killzone, everything that is wrong in gaming being used to knock the launch of a quirky new concept from the best game developers of all time..

I think both sf2 and bomberman for switch are overpriced.

 

However, these two games have already stood the test of time. Do you honestly think Killzone Shadowfall and Knack will be remembered fondly 20 years down the line?

I'd take one BOTW over the entire PS4 catalogue right now. Literally dribbling jizz every time I think about it.

You realise what a stupid comment that is, Killzone is a rehash of all the bad FPS games of the last 15 years - you are literally saying you prefer a terrible rehash of a game thats awful to play over a good rehash of a game ;)

 

I would rather buy a console and spend 40 hours in the menus than play 1 min of some shite like fucking Killzone, industry is fucking doomed :(

It's funny to think that 2 months ago the internet was collectively losing its shit about how there weren't any games coming out for the Switch


Day one, I'm getting Zelda (potential GOAT), snipperclips (absolutely charming looking game I can't wait to play with the gf), and 1 2 Switch (okay, so this is closer to the standard launch window waggle-ware; I wouldn't pay full price for it but for £22 from Amazon it should be a laugh after a few drinks with mates.) By my reckoning, two games I'm genuinely excited to play plus one which will be a bit of throwaway fun is a pretty good haul for launch day.

There's a treasure trove of indie games coming out; I can see half a dozen I'll pick up day one when they come out. I sometimes bring my laptop + 4 xbox controllers out for drinks with friends; with stuff like Towerfall, Duck Game, and Overcooked coming out, this is going to turn out to be a great replacement as my local multiplayer machine as well.

Through the middle of the year I get to fill in the gaps on some of the games I missed on the Wii U - Lego City Undercover, Mario Kart, and Splatoon. Plus any surprises from E3 (the rumoured GameCube VC and Pikmin 4?), and then we get Mario for Christmas. Seriously. Mario for Christmas. It makes me happy just typing that.

I understand that people's tastes are different, so if none of that appeals to you, fair play - but with a solid 1st party Nintendo lineup (mainline Mario and Zelda in the same year!) and a fantastic indie pipeline, this thing feels like it's made for me. I really don't care at this point if we get good third party AAA support; to be honest I have a pc for that and don't particularly want to play something like Prey on a 7 inch screen. This thing has more than justified its purchase to me already.

Though on second thought, it is significantly worse at making toast than my toaster. I give it a 6.7; pre-order cancelled.

I would agree, but even I'm interested in Last Guardian, and Horizon Zero Dawn.
