Laughing at Digital Foundry - this console goes against everything they stand for. They must be at a loss as to how they're going to present any kind of meaningful coverage. 

 

The Guardian piece by Keith Stuart is the best one I've read.

It's great that you're excited for a new console, and great that any reported issues don't bother you, but outright dismissing things, claiming they've got a vendetta against Nintendo and so are deliberately freezing Zelda, that they've been out of touch for years and that people are faking controller issues for clicks, and some of the other things said in this thread is crazy.

Hmmm, I don't think so. It's how the news is presented sometimes. We know a lot of this stuff already. What we want to read is an informed piece about what it's like to use.

 

That digital foundry chart is just bonkers.

The same way they reviewed umpteen other things like the Xbox One S and PS4 Slim? Do you actually read their stuff at all?

i just sat and watched the last gamer video and ign video, unfortunately I can't play mine as it doesn't come until Friday '  it just doesn't feel next gen, it just looks like the wii '. ' look at all those jaggies! ' ' why is three no grip on the joycon they feel like cheap plastic ' . I don't think Nintendo will put those quotes on the box do you! That's someone's first impressions, even games like kill zone on PS4 had people saying HOLY FUCK THISE GRAPHICS THO!!!!

 

And that was when they were playing Zelda! Imagine what they thought about bomberman...

That's some spinning you're doing there. DF don't call the seven hours of battery life a negative, they call the fact that you need a power bank in the first place a negative; it's the two-and-a-half to three hour battery life without an external power supply that they comment on as being a bit of an issue.

 

If you struggle to get seven hours continuous gaming on your phone with a 10,000 mAh power bank then I worry for your phone.

Never read anything by them, I watch their videos quite regularly though. Not sure if they are one and the same. 

 

I think consoles like PS4 and Xbox suit their aims - their pixel counting, power rating etc. Switch doesn't really fit their remit and I imagine most people aren't really interested in their take on it.

If you're only interested in tech info if it's a bleeding edge machine then that sounds more like your problem than Digital Foundry's.

The eurogamer hardware review was, I feel,  positive in the main. I think the main drawback is , as pretty much everyone has said, the price . If this was £199 then the extras for maximum performance  would not feel so much of a outlay and the review would appear to be far more enthusiastic . I think the battery concerns are genuine , but I also think no one is surprised at the limited life . 

Im not in at launch but I don't think anyone that is should feel disheartened .

Honestly, it's one of the worst games I ever played. But it looked glorious and showed the console off tremendously. I'm sorry but it's all well and good having Zelda at launch, but it's a wii u game. A game from last gen is launching a new gen. kind of a nail in the coffin from day one I feel. 

 

The next big hit is a Mario kart game from last gen repackaged. And bomberman.... that will be fun for all of ten minutes.
