Slightly off topic - but as mentioned:

Games faqs forum is great for Japanese only import games, have had lots of help/ info from there as a 100% non signed up lurker

I couldn't have got through Rent A Hero without gamefaqs. Or Shenmue, MGS, Sakura Wars...

Just listening to the Vergecast. Sounds like the Switch isn't ready for launch?

No VC, stores not up, OS not ready?

There will be a day one patch. Store will be up. OS looks nice and sleek. No VC at launch but we won't care because we will be playing Zelda.

I made the mistake of listening to the first 18 minutes of that Verge podcast. Those guys are just clueless, claiming Nintendo have been hiding 1-2 Switch from gaming websites for fear they'll tear into it when the exact opposite has been true. They then claimed Switch wasn't ready for release as it needed a day 1 patch, which is so stupid it's hard to know where to begin and ignores the fact that both PS4 and Bone required a critical day one patch.

If you're interested in trying 1, 2 Switch for cheap, might be worth signing up for a new Very account and using this code: LA4AC

Gets you 30 quid off an order over 60 quid. I signed up and pre-ordered 1, 2 Switch and Mario Kart 8 and ended up paying 54 quid for them both (so essentially a tenner for 1, 2 Switch which is about what it's likely worth to me). Don't really care if I get it on launch day or not, but as a cheap party game it might be some fun.

People were using the code to get Pro Controllers for 35 quid but they must have been inundated and the Pro is listed as out of stock now :(

Damnit! Figured this would be a good way to get Zelda and the official case/screen protector for cheap (£37), and went off through the checkout process setting up a new account and looking for the 'pay now' option (which I appear to have completely blundered past).

Long and short, I seem to have accidentally set up a credit account with them, and now apparently have £600 credit on there. (I did wonder why they were asking weird questions about how long I'd lived at my current address, and my income etc, but I was nowhere near the payment tab yet and figured I'd just see how it went before confirming it all or backing out). All attempts to reverse through the process and click the 'pay by card' bit now just go straight to the 'add to account' screen - it won't actually seem to let me pay up front anymore. Not had credit cards/accounts in nearly a decade and don't really want to again.

Still haven't finalised the order as I can live without the case for a bit and don't mind paying £8 or so more for the game elsewhere if they're gonna be hassle to deal with. Anyone here use them regularly? Is this as simple as waiting 'till they confirm it's out for click and collect on Friday then paying the £37 balance there and then? Or does going through with the order make it harder for me to get them to close the whole thing down (which would be my next step)? It also says they reserve the right to not honour the code if you aren't entitled to use it, and I can't find anything online indicating it's origins (ie; whether it's for all new customers or by invitation).

States '100+ sold in the last 24 hours' on the Zelda page - not sure how that affects the likelihood of Zelda actually getting here on or around launch. Is 100+ a lot relative to launch day allocations?

Run for the hills or worrying about nothing?

The Verge coverage of anything related to gaming is usually pretty cringey.

Hello, a few Qs.

When using the switch un-docked, what are my sound options? Headset (3.5mm/USB jack?), inbuilt speakers?

What are the launch games? I just got a little confused over redout and FAST RMX. Different games. :(

Is this toshiba card equivalent to the one posted earlier in the thread? http://www.lazada.sg/catalog/?q=TOSHIBA 128GB microSDXC Class U3 MicroSD TF Flash Memory Card 90MB%2Fs&searchclickposition=prod1 ( @Shimmyhill ?)

It's got headphones (3.5mm) and speakers on the unit undocked - 3DS style. I think chat is through a separate 'phone app (whenever that hits) so not sure a headset is any more needed than just buds/phones initially.

Launch games here: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2017/02/guide_nintendo_switch_launch_games_and_release_dates_2017

RMX is the Nintendo exclusive, it's an update/expansion to the Wii U version, hits launch day. Redout is multiplat - out now on Steam and prob other places. Out later in the year on Switch.

You know you can take the console out of the cradle and play it - why haven't Nintendo made it possible for the cradle to act as a toaster so I can make some toast when I'm playing Zelda in handheld mode? It could also be a trouser press. Fucking Nintendo. Pre-order cancelled :(

I got a phone call from GAME on Saturday urging me to come in and pay up front so I could get a raffle ticket and avoid the 'inevitable' queues on Friday. I think it's because I just ordered a Switch and BOTW and they want another go at upselling me a load of shite I don't want. I might do it on Wednesday as I have a meeting nearby in the morning but it seems a bit odd and they apparently rarely do this so DEMAND IS HIGH.... or they're trying to upsell me shit again hoping I give in to the hype train.

Nicely. Thank you.

I'm interested to know how proper headsets + chat via the phone app will work. I'm not expecting very good quality sound from the internal speakers.

I guess everyone is clueless on this.

We know VC is coming though. Comparatively, Sony have managed only a handful of reworked PS2 titles in 3 years and Microsoft took a couple of years to deliver BC (which works brilliantly) having said it wasn't possible at launch. So Nintendo are actually ahead of the curve at this point in the Switch's life!

The Bone's OS wasn't ready for launch, and therefore they'd have been right. But isn't this a first for Nintendo: releasing a console requiring immediate patching?

Never ever false metal

My job ain't a job
It's a damn good time
City to city I'm playing my gymes.

Nintendo Switch always on vacation
Itchy trigger finger
But a kickstand on the table
I do what I do best
Because I'm willing and able.
Ain't no faking
123 Switch money Nintendo taking
Going coast to coast to watch all the girlies shaking.
While you're at the job working nine to five

Amazed how bothered people seem to be about VC.   Old games are the last thing on my mind when I get a new console.

Absolutely.

Zelda is obviously the main dish.

The Switch actually have nice side dishes like Snipperclips, FAST rmx, that snake game from sumo , I am Setsuna...

Why would someone want to replay an old game so early?

I prepaid my PS4 with game and it made launch night a dream. Was out of the store by 12:10 as they took everyone who had prepaid first and already had everything bagged. I passed them my ticket they gave me my console and games. Meanwhile everyone who hadn't prepaid were queued with people who were bring games etc to trade.

Obviously experiences with Game vary but I wouldn't worry about upselling, just tell them what you want, your knowledge will be greater than theirs!! :D

I dont get it when people says that Ballon Fight is a bad clone of joust

Does anyone know if the dragon quest heroes game is a physical / digital version that is released on the 3rd March? I have Zelda pre-ordered, now i'm deciding on what my second game should be, probably between that and disgaea

Thought Dragon Quest Heroes was Japan only for launch day?
