Pokemon update from Tsunekazu Ishihara:

Hmmmm.

This doesn't sound like good news at all :( I was really hoping for a main Pokemon game on the Switch.

It's strange how he mentions the systems specs being high like it's a bad thing.

This wanker right here. (watching them anyway).

Apparently the charging grip improves the range of the joycons by nearly 50%.

This is one of those facepalm moments if this is indeed correct and a firmware issue can't fix it.

They will be. What else they gonna be on? Take it with a pinch of salt. They're still trying to sell Sun and Moon.

I had to box my 360 and WiiU back up not so long ago. I had no fucking clue what I was doing with all of the bags and bits of polystyrene and cardboard. Unboxing videos saved me.

2 1/2 hours or less, according to some folk on Twitter who have been playing it.

2:28 with screen at max brightness with auto off, sound full, wifi on - over 3 hours is easy apparently and the bonus that you don't burn your retinas or get early onset tinnitus.

It makes sense from the perspective of a developer used to working on a portable platform for its larger games - higher specs and resolution mean higher expectations of graphical quality, which means higher cost of development.

If the 3DS becomes defunct and Switch popular then they'll likely reconsider, of course.

If they were going to do a portable-only Switch, they may as well have launched a home-only Switch with higher (but scaleable) specs/OS.

Having a handheld-only version would make this whole venture completely stupid.

So yeah, it's a lock that's what Nintendo will do.

I also predict they won't bring handheld franchises to Switch. I bet Pokemon Stars is a 3DS title.

If the switch isn't as successful as they hope then it absolutely makes sense to have a handheld that doesn't have the cost of the joycons attached that uses a similar architecture. Nintendo would have an easy port for games from Switch to the handheld. So I think they've got themselves covered both ways to be honest just like the did with the DS.

I predict that they absolutely WILL bring handheld franchises to the Switch eventually. if the thing sells then devs will release their franchises on it.

You can keep on being a negative nancy in this thread though. It's incredibly entertaining.

Probably silly question.  Can the Switch be plugged into power outlet when in handheld mode?  It would be annoying to have to interrupt Zelda playtime having to charge after 2hrs.

Do you have to buy the separate AC adapter for £27.99 to do this?

Do you guys think I should sell my 3dsxl?, the only reason why I'm resistant to selling it is due to the 3dsxl being a great portable game machine, however, with the switch I'm not sure if it be worth keeping.

Fire Emblem Shadows of Valentia says no.

How much higher though? I played Paper Mario Colour Splash the other day. There's nothing there that couldn't have been done on the N64 (other than the graphics).

No, the supplied power pack can plug straight into the Switch instead of the dock.

Thanks. So is the separate AC adapter just there for those that may want to take their Switch everywhere?
