I'll play Zelda on the last Nintendo box I wasted money on near launch. I would've had a substantially better experience with my last three Nintendo consoles if I'd just bought them after they'd failed along with the ten Nintendo games released, instead of wasting money on an early console and leaving it to gather dust for months on end. If I ever bother buying a Switch that'll be what I do, but at the moment I'm thinking Breath of the Wild will be my last Nintendo game for a long time :(

Jesus man you whine about the NDF and then post crap like this, are you the IDF or something?

Its barely cheaper to buy a Wii U now than at launch unless you go second hand and you have had those ten games to play over 5 years that had you bought in one go you would have played 2 of them and then whined about not having enough time to play your backlog of games

And whoa betide that pile of shit console you wasted all that money on is still going to let you play the new Zelda - I mean what a fucking liberty that machine has been for you.

Only when discussing the same old disappointments from Nintendo.

It's funny innit. People getting giddy at the thought of a new gadget. Getting giddy. Giddy with excitement. It's kinda childish. Yeah? Isn't it? Yeah. Bit funny.

What's not funny are the people arguing earnestly against the people who are a bit giddy. I mean, what the fuck is their story? What the fuck is wrong with those guys? It's not funny. It's... Ooh. It's... *Shudders*

It's kind of weird. These personas people create and act out in lieu of having any kind of normal or meaningful discussion. Problem is he's done it for so long people just accept it in the end, and becomes normal. But it's not it's fucking childish, and weird, and unfunny.

Aren't you the guy who made my books?

Shit I've just realised I don't have enough HDMI ports (our plebian 32-incher only has three). Thanks a lot, Nintendo.

I use a Neet switcher from Amazon for the consoles, auto switches and less than a tenner - I just upgraded it to a 5 port one to solve the Switch needing another (Duronic brand this time)

Both work with PS4, Xbone & Wii U

What? I would still have it to play Zelda now if I'd bought it now, I'd just have the other four games as well. This isn't steam, it's a pathetic trickle of games, there's literally no chance of it ever having a big pile of shame, and the Wii U literally doesn't now. It's got a few good games, enough for a few months, and grabbing it at the end of it's life would be a much more fun proposition than stretching such a meagre library over years.

You come back and post about it then. Okay?

Universal acclaim aside from the issues with the left joycon and the undercooked UI and stuff.

Feel free to be excited. You can even be a cunt to people who aren't excited. If you're going to be as smug as you are though, you could really do with actually being funny. Or interesting.

I said I'll tone it down. Maybe I did get carried away. Just excited. Sorry if it offended you.

I don't think their attitude towards online stuff has met with universal acclaim. Quite the opposite really.

Look. There isn't anyone here who doesn't know their shit. We all recognise how great Nintendo's games are, but how they treat their customers is pretty shit.

You do realise youre the mirror image of the sentiment in this post just you're voting to leave?

Nintendo does need to do a statement concerning the left joycon.

If it can be fixed with a day one patch, fine. If not, I'm concerned.

GameXplain have done a video trying to replicate the problem. It's a bit bollocks because I'm sure people aren't trying to play Zelda with the joycon behind their back.

Not really. You'd end up reaching either Mario Kart 8 or Splatoon and then end up playing absolutely nothing else for a minimum of 500 hours.

I've got a big backlog of WiiU stuff. I even stopped buying games for it.

I want a game that takes advantage of this no-doubt-completely-accidental feature. Sort of a "keep talking and nobody explodes" sort of situation?

1,2 Switch is currently unavailable on Amazon.

You heard me right.

Everyone has read Alex's post and realised they now need to buy 1,2 Switch as the game they can play with the joy cons attached backwards..

Actually that's pretty definitive. Both left and right joy cons have range issues. Forget the behind the back stuff, he says that the same stunt has no impact on connection when he does it a few feet away from the Switch. But the signal at 10 feet from the Switch is that weak that his fingers cut it off.

I play at a good 10 feet+ away. If Ninty can't firmware update this to boost the signal strength - likely at the expense of battery life (so why would they?), and it's going to be a borderline connection for me, then I'm probably out. Over to you Nintendo. If this is 'no comment' over the next few days I'll be cancelling the preorder.

Same here. Will cancel if this is not addressed. My concern is the problem cannot be addressed with a firmware update, it is that the hardware is not up to scratch when it comes to wireless.

Thanks, hopefully it'll do well and let us do a few more internal projects. It's certainly been a labour of love for the guys. Price got announced today too, £16.99 regardless of platform which hopefully will help it along!

The fact that it can be replicated at all with a physical movement is worrying because that suggests a hardware flaw; sure, you're not going to be playing many games with the extreme hand-behind-the-back scenario, but that's beside the point - having it become choppy here, stuck there for a second or two at random intervals on a regular basis is pretty bad news for a video game controller.

If it is a hardware issue, I'm sure it will be ironed out in time, but Nintendo really needs to correspond with retailers and eat the cost of at least one Pro Controller for every early adopter because hyperbole will strike and the Switch will take a hit at a particularly damaging time. Suddenly it will be the console with the controllers that NEVER work.

Surely it can't have a range of only 10 feet? I'm still keeping my preorder because I can't believe they'd be that stupid.

It's Bluetooth (right?) so if so will undoubtedly use standard radios. My AirPods can do 10 meters with line of sight, can't see a switch struggling to compete with something so low powered.

That Zelda is unplayable with direct line of sight at about 10ft.

And 'get a pro controller' is not an answer. My dream use case was free-handing it with the loose Joy cons.

This is likely to blow up massively tomorrow, once other sites start trying out these longer range use cases. I hope to fuck Nintendo have a simple fix.

How has Arms been working then with people grasping the entirety of the Joycon in their fists? Maybe they've not been standing so far away.

I dunno. Like JPL says they can't be that stupid. It's not like these are broadcasting the same information as the WiiU gamepad. I must have been lucky with mine as that had wicked LoS range.

It's clearly a signal strength issue. So a variety of factors will likely contribute, but distance is probably a huge element. Then how much you wrap your mitts around the j-c. And then other physical obstructions like furniture or your knees or shit in your AV unit, and then (I guess) signals that might interfere with the j-c's Bluetooth 3.0 signal.

Right now it looks like a hardware fuck-up.
