He's looking for something to stir up some clicks.

He's writing an opinion based on (presumably) extensive time with the hardware. He is doing his job.

I haven't had a problem with controller sync, but I've only really used the Joy-Cons in handheld mode because the Pro Controller is just lovely.

He's clearly trying to stir something up - he's calling it undercooked even before he's been able to see half the features because the Day 1 update isn't available yet.

I'm not doubting he's doing his job, but don't deny his job does involve getting his content noticed somehow...

Also has the sync issue at 16:33, it's not so much disconnecting as failing to respond, or continuing to think an input is active when it's not.

What's your point? They're using pre release firmware. Let's wait until consumer release before getting the ropes out eh?

Well, yeah, the long reply from Iwata is where it came from. So you do know somebody from Nintendo said it.

You should go look up his other lengthy reply about the problems with porting while you're at it as that is much more applicable as to why they wanted to standardise the hardware and software environment, it certainly doesn't explicitly state one game playable on multiple hardware, which is more the thing I believe everybody expects to be the end-result of the unification.

These guys with all of 13 subs. How do you even find this?

Well, that issue really shouldn't be there at this stage.

They need to address if they have a fix for it before release date.

Get a grip. If Nintendo really think that the media need the Day 1 patch to do their jobs properly they should either embargo the thing until it's out or give them the patch early.

The fact that it's not available for people who have the console already boggles the mind but then it's probably still being programmed by some poor sods in a sweatshop, being whipped to have it ready in time.

It's certainly concerning to hear multiple reports of the issue. I think it's a little foolish to suggest there's some counter-Nintendo initiative here designed to discredit their new console. I only hope that if it isn't an isolated fault, that it's something which can be addressed through software, rather than replacement hardware. Either way, these reports are not what Nintendo wants or needs right now.

Syncing is a big worry considering how much experience they have with wireless controllers and that it's not exactly new tech.Maybe it's a just a Zelda thing?

To be honest though, Nintendo could say that a factory accident means that 50% of the units are shipping coated with Ebola and I doubt I'd cancel.

Well, it seems it is a more widespread issue than just Polygon being Polygon. I have to wonder how this has never been spotted in all of the internal testing. All of the developer testing. All of the Switch preview events. But now as it is in preview (review embargo is Wednesday) and people are coming across this. It must be a software thing and easily sorted, otherwise you'd have serious questions about QA departments at Nintendo and other developers that have been working with it. Still got less serious questions as to how it got to this stage.

Yeah, it kind of explicitly does, actually. It's literally what he's saying. The fuck is wrong with you?

I'm not sure I understand the rationale of giving people the system early to build up buzz, if it's going to be a version of the console that is terrible.

It's terrible now?

Doesn't sound like it is only a Zelda thing, it's been reported to mess up in system menus too.

It's an exaggeration, but I just never got my head around sending out very early software/hardware in an era when people's impressions of it will go online within hours. It's not the old days, you're not just sending a giant crate to a few big magazine publishers and expecting them to post cautiously optimistic reports a month later.

Presumably they didn't want the preview machines to have the new update on them as they would have access to the e-shop etc?

Normally don't console manufacturers set up a preview version of their online service for the media to use until it's actually released? There's a whole secret Xbox Live for journalists I've been led to believe.

They are all missing the day one update. The rumour is the issue appears to be to do with wireless interference and it occurs because the left joycon is slaved to the right one in some way. Should be an easy fix of the firmware.

I read AV club, Metro and some other one. They fucking loved it. And another one... Forbes. And also the Polygon one. Average score was 10/10

OK

You can slide the Joy-Cons onto the tablet backwards, if you want to play blind with the screen facing away from you. You can't slide them in upside-down, though.

I want a game that takes advantage of this no-doubt-completely-accidental feature. Sort of a "keep talking and nobody explodes" sort of situation?
