3ds is far from dead, a lot of people who got burned on the wii u will not be buying a switch at launch and will wait and see how the switch turns out. All hype aside the launch selection is pretty atrocious tbh, a twenty year old fighting game, a twenty year old bombing game and Zelda.

Only the preview embargo on the hardware is up. No reviews for a few days more apparently...

Next week when the review embargo is up.

Cheers guys, oh well maybe some previews but we have pretty much seen it previewed at events plenty other than the OS (and even that was leaked).

I was looking at my iPhone today, and wondering - something as big as an iPhone 6 Plus, little (non removable) controllers on the ends, you have a mini Switch. Have a mode to use it as a controller for a "big" Switch, and itprintsmoney.gif

How small are your thumbs mate

I was almost put off by all of those people canceling their pre-orders yesterday. Then I just rubbed my hands up and down my face, wiped my eyes and said "MORE FOR ME".

It's what credit cards were invented for. Martin Lewis is probably getting one.

Not only no quote but the paraphrasing says they are "considering" a 3DS successor. They also "considered" a Game Boy successor which was definitely not the DS.

And if asked they'd say they were considering a Switch successor.

Listen, I've read everything. At no point do they mention a 3DS successor being in the works.

Here we go.

"We're hoping that Nintendo Switch will be a system that will be the constant in your gaming life," adds Koizumi. "Whereas previously, you would play certain things on your home system and certain things on your handheld. Our hope is that Nintendo Switch can be the system that bridges both of those and becomes the constant system that you're always using."

"But my hope is that with Nintendo Switch being a system that you can play at home and bring with you, we're going to be able to find more of those moments where we're able to play the games that we all enjoy and be able to enjoy them that much more," he added

The justification is not having a whole family buying a single copy of a game and using it on multiple switches at the same time.

On the contrary being able to share games across a family account, or whatever, makes excellent business sense. If you can persuade families to purchase more than one Switch you're doing well. What you should be doing is looking at ways of achieving this by driving sales. It's anti consumer and typical Nintendo bullshit.

“The required need and market is there for it, and we’re considering a successor,”  said Kimishima on the subject of a possible successor for the Nintendo 3DS.

There's your quote. Iwata said much the same recently too.

I think they're just hedging their bets to be honest, in case Switch bombs and they need to rethink. Impossible to believe that they intend to make another dedicated handheld, unless they have no choice.

It's standard for Sony and MS to tie digital software to the account rather than hardware. Nintendo just need to copy that model. I assume there's a limit on the number of simultaneous logins on one account. If a person buying physical media can just share it between their family, the same should be possible for digital software.

Tying digital downloads to hardware is anti-consumer. It's indefensible.

They have said that it is tied to the account and you can log in to a new switch console and download your stuff again. What you can't do is buy a game and install it on multiple machines for use at the same time.

How does selling 1 copy of a game rather than 3 make good business sense? They just want to prevent the situation you get with the phone app stores where people share accounts so they only have to buy one copy of a game for the whole family to use.

Because families are far less likely to even consider buying multiple Switch's if they can't even share games between devices. Even if they just limited it to two devices at a time, or charged more per month for a family account, it's better than locking people out altogether.

I know people love these kind of posts but...

Nintendo just emailed me saying my Neon is being processed. Seeing as up until now I couldn't choose which one to go for it looks as if the decision has been made for me. I will not really be taking it out and about so I'm guessing I can live with the colour scheme.
